Ashtray lid removal on Vantage?

I want to tidy up the centre console and repaint the ashtray lid, but can’t seem to get it out without damaging it, anyone any tips.

Remove the centre console - the ashtray screws onto the underside of the centre console casting.

Once the ashtray is removed from the centre console, the end plates can be removed and the lid then lifts out

Centre console removal is a bit of a faff - you need to remove the rear parcel shelf, then the aluminium bar, then the armrest and then the centre console.

And when you do all the little plugs/connectors will fight you, be firm but gentle and it all comes apart.

Watch out for the front edges catching on the leather on the sides.. Don’t ask me how I know.

Thanks all. I realised after I posted that its not actually an ashtray but the lid to the power socket or what would have been the caled the cigar lighter in the old days, but you knew what I meant anyhow. Thanks again.
