I’m in the fortunate position to own a fairly successful limited company.

I have a mix of pension,ISAs’s and rental properties and I am 4 or five years off wanting to retire at 60 ish.

I have been and will continue to max over the next few years, all available allowances between myself and the OH to get as near to LTA as possible.

The company has a surplus of cash on account, 250-300k every year and in the past I have invested a percentage of this in EIS schemes with the aim of releasing some cash from the business in a tax efficient way after a 4 to 5 year EIS period has elapsed.

The way I have looked at this is I get tax relief immediately once the money is taken out of the business. If any investments in the EIS have failed I can claw back, if the EIS gives me my initial investment back ( once tax relief has been taken into account) then I’ve got some cash out of the business in a relatively tax efficient way.

Some EIS have performed better than others and some have given me an extra tickle on top of the initial investment.

I could possibly invest some of the surplus cash into rental property wrapped within the LTD company and have invested some of the company cash surpluses in unit trusts( againwithin the company) to generate some growth on capital rather than it just sitting there.

I’m can afford to be open minded and fairly adventurous as I think I have a fairly broad mix of investment .

The next 4 to 5 years are important as I do not want to be working past 60.

Any thoughts on other potential investment ideas/ strategies. ?
