hi. can someone please tell me where to find the obd port on an early (1995) db7 i6?

Thanks. Yes I checked the manual but I still couldn't find an OBD Port in the car. Mine is an early DB7 - could it be that the manufacturers did not put an OBD port in early DB7's?

Obd2 wasn't mandatory in 95 so it could be any weird and wonderful connector requiring paper clips and flashing lights or none at all.

A quick Google turns up a pH thread from 2020 in the Aston Martin section which explains it could be under the dash on either side and may require removal of a footwell panel or might not exist if you don't have a steering wheel airbag.

Yeah regarding the DB7 if its an early one with no drivers steering wheel air bag there is No OBD port on the car.

Very many thanks. It is a very early DB7. From your kind answers I guess there is probably no OBD port.

This is mine, under the passenger footwell panel. Not much good as theres no diagnostic reader that fit!

Or an Aston dealer or specialist who has the original diagnostic tool that plugs in to the connector that DBPhil has posted. I believe that JCT600 Aston Martin Leeds still have a working one along with Chiltern Aston, the DB7 heritage dealer who specialises in DB7s.

Yes, the world of Aston Martin! The non airbag cars had a Zytek engine system like the Jaguar Xj220 but changed to the Ford system when they fitted airbags and standard On Board Diagnostic (OBD) connectors which are much easier to connect to.

Is your engine management light on or do you have a running fault? If its the former, you can switch it off by turning the ignition switch on and off between 30 and 40 times in rapid succession.

Thankyou N7GTX. Fantastic! I tried your tip and it worked. So far …….. fingers crossed. Right wrist quite sore from turning the ignition key on and off so many yikes in rapid succession, but so what - the dreaded engine management light is no longer coming on. Thankyou.
