Got a issue with the battery on the wifes F45 2 series active tourer. The battery that is fitted is the original BMW 800CCA 80ah and most websites seem to be suggesting 70ah 720cca. Would there be an issue with fitting the lower rated ah.cca battery

You will need to code the car if you have a significant change in amperage. This is in addition to registration.

Personally I'd fit the biggest battery I can; peace of mind then etc

Either way, as said above, it'll need to be coded or registered to the car; even if you swap like for like

Not meant to hijack this thread but I’ve had recent tell tale signs that my battery (2017 F36) also perhaps nearing EOL.. remote boot open will only open half way, no force feedback when engaging handbrake etc.

A decent 60mph run for 10 mins seems to sort but the continued WFH doesn’t help in that the car isn’t driven as much as it once was so is probably in need of more driving and charge.

Are batteries meant to be replaced over time and are they best sources directly from BMW? I didn’t realise there were different specs per OP post.

Yes, they have a finite life.

4-6 years is the general

And no, stay away from BMW if you can. Their prices are laughable etc...

I've just fitted a 95Ah Exude AGM battery to my F01 730D and it cost me £ 110 via a battery specialist on ebay and I registered it myself.

My advice is find a local specialist and get them to sort the battery for you (either just register it or fit and register it, and you source it etc).

Tanya batteries are great to deal with
