The Anti - Bucket list
Discussion
Saw something like this on my FB...
So, it’s something that is definitely NOT on your bucket list, or something that you have ticked off but definitely wouldn’t do it again.
( I think that’s how it’s supposed to work.)
Personally.... I’m never going to have a shark steak or try eels every again.
I must admit... the ‘Chef’ did say that was the first time that she had cooked it...afterwards.
(Tasted like white fish with a drizzle of cleaning fluid)
Eels... It was a family wedding in London, on my ex’s side, but it must be an acquired taste.
(Got some gasps & funny looks as I spat it it into a napkin)
Definitely Not;
Hot Air Balloon
Parachute jump ( Well almost many years ago)
Cruise.
Not to be repeated:
Car Accidents
Abseiling
Woodland adventure parks.

Both tasty, neither weird.
Give them another go somewhere decent.
Plunge my hand into a bucket of nitrogen.
LSD.

Apparently you have to cook Shark for about 4hrs as it contains a lot of ammonia or something... might explain that taste & burning throat sensation. This was many years ago in Cornwall...Think Eeels are a definite ‘No, No’
NB: Miss the REAL double pie, double mash & liquor though.

I had eel in Japan. It was nice.
On the other hand not keen to retry “uni” which is raw Sea Urchin gonads. Salty and gritty. Might as well lick a beach!
Have another motorbike accident. Been there, got the T-shirt and scars.
Buy another dog. Ours is only six but I’m already worrying about how I will handle his death. Don’t think I’d be able to go through it twice in a lifetime.

Go skiing.
I didn’t want to go when i was at school. I didn’t want to go (on a skiing holiday) when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. And i don’t want to go now. I don’t even like snow much anymore.

Winter season in the mountains is magical. Skiing is fun no matter your ability - if diabolical have a few jars in front of an open fire and a good sausage

On the Isle of Islay, doing a distillery tour ( which is boring as hell) sticking my head into a big copper mash tub thingy. The hit of alcohol or fumes or whatever it was, was like someone hitting me round the back of the head with a baseball bat on an instant.
CO2, used to be tradition for the new startd to have a good sniff of the washbacks!OMITN said:
Get mugged.
Happened to me when I was 18. Not nice. Am now careful not to end up in potentially dodgy situations.

I was not as whelmed as everyone told me I should be when overlooking
the grand canyon, really wasn't worth the detour going to Vegas.

Sounds not far off from Abalone/Awabi Sashimi that I had to eat politely in front of the enamoured restaurant owner since we had establish friends in common and further connections. Kind gesture but it was horrific for someone like that can be a fussy eater at times.Milkyway said:
shark steak
I had Shark'n'bake (shark in a coconut bread bun) from a beachside shack in Trinidad years ago, it was one of the best things I've ever eaten.Edited by Milkyway on Tuesday 11th January 21:36
On my anti-bucket list...probably anything involving dentists. Sorry dentists.

Ha !You did that too ?
Thing is, you stick your head into basically pure CO2, take a breath expecting Whiskey fumes and black out.
Trouble was, I was tall enough so instead of dropping to the floor, I almost went in head first. The tour guide got the back of my coat and pulled me back.

"I've booked us to go horse riding this Sunday" said Ernie
"I hate horses, anyway I want to go to the rock concert that's on in New York" I replied.
But Ernie made me change my mind so there I was straddling this frightening beast. I managed less than a minute and jumped off, terrified. Horses were deffo on my anti-bucket list.
The upshot was, I missed going to Woodstock...
