I remember this market being an absolute minefield with 95% of the Flash Drives having incredibly Slow Write speeds, extremely unreliable & Most having extremely cheap build quality. From what I remember, the Kingston brand took the cake for being the absolute worst ones.

Anyone perhaps has recently bought a decent one at a reasonable price? I'm after a 64gb or larger One.
If so, care to share a link?

Thanks.

Sandisk, I've used them for years.

The issues isn't the makes so much as the dodgy Chinese copies, Amazon are good as you can return easy if needed.

64 GB is on the small size unless you have a specific use case.

USB 3.0 is (a lot) better than USB 2.0, unless your use case demands USB 2.0

I'd go for something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra-Flair-Flash...

Or this if you want something small and discreet. :

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra-Flash-Drive...

Amazon are not immune from shipping counterfeit flash memory devices due to third party sellers stock being mixed in with that sourced through their own supply chain.

Best to stick to vendors who source through the IT channel distributors as their supply chains are well secured - I ususally go to EBuyer.

I've had a few Kingston USB sticks and SD cards over the years and never had any issues with performance or reliability.

When I was a poor student working in PC World in the early 2000s, one of my work colleagues took a two year finance agreement to buy a 1GB USB stick when they first arrived! No, he wasn't very bright.

To the OP - as per recommendations - Sandisk, Big as you can afford, USB 3 speeds.

rofl Fabulous.

I do recall being issued with a 32Mb USB stick and being told to look after it as it was expensive . . .

Thanks I think I will go for the SanDisk Ultra Flair 128 GB if I don't find anything better. The only negative for it seems like it gets insanely hot during use.

What about Samsung BAR Plus drives?
Seems like the Small file writing speed ( the most important thing) is much better on these?

Well aware of Chinese copies... still..If you look at Kingston drives they will advertise USB 3.0 or even 3.2 yet in reality the speeds are appealing in usb2.0 range ...
No idea how Kingston hasn't gone out of business continuing selling their $hitty stuff

It would be perhaps helpful if you could state your usage case, i.e. what you will be doing with it, it may well be that you need something like a WD Elements if faster speeds, especially on small file writing is important

Actually the Samsung drives look pretty good if you want to keep a small form factor that's self powered, I'll have a look at reviews etc, if any good might snag one myself to replace my venerable Sandisk Extreme Pro 128 GB
