Any one got experience of supercharging a stock 993 ? I was considering getting a 993 C4S and doing this :

Any recomended real life experiences of supercharger or turbocharger kits ? - could always just get a factory 993 Turbo but where's the fun in that ?

I think this is the kit that 9M fit. I'm tempted by this for my 964 - just need a rebuild first.

Because then you can send it to 9ff, RUF, 9M, bla,bla,bla....make the supercharged one look slow

This is the TPC kit which has been around for a while. Yes, Colin @ 9m uses this kit too.

It's pretty good value for money if you're starting with a C2, but the sky high prices of a good C4S means that the difference between doing this and just buying a 993tt is minimal, and the tt will hold its value much better than the supercharged equivalent (and have more power and torque).

Cyberface has been running his supercharged car for a good while now, and someone here (can't remember who, sorry) recently bought a yellow C4S from Henry F which also has this TPC supercharger.

Quite a few rennlisters run this kit also, and also seem very happy with it. Check out the 993 forum on rennlist and you'll see this sort of question has come up many times before.

In fact, if you search the archives right here on PH you'll probably find a few posts involving myself and cyberface on this very subject.

Hope this helps,

VS
(who sold his C2 and bought a tt right after asking this question himself)

I think it was james_s that bought the yellow C4S with the 'charger.

So much for all the time spent optimising it on our dyno......

Mine's still on and is remaining so

Very happy with the delivery and character of the supercharged motor. It will be interesting to see the results when someone takes the plunge with the intercooler upgrade, the initial absence of which restricts the normal power output to 330 bhp or thereabouts.

The real benefit is in everyday road driving, the torque throughout the rev range makes it a much nicer car to drive. 9m can get plenty more power from an atmo engine but the S/C is very suited to road use.

Got the TPC supercharger fitted to mine earlier this. Results are superb, great for track car as torque out of corners means you don't need to change down for some of the marginal gear changes. Pace of car up there with GT3 RS. Anyone at silverstone last week can confirm that. Anyone any idea about cost of intercooler and what expected gains are??

I thought 9m wanted a first customer to do the intercooler installation with - you may be able to get a decent deal if you're assisting with development?
Check the rennlist guys re: intercooler benefits - I believe there's someone there north of 400 bhp without dropping compression... assuming this is safe and reliable, it's a neat bolt-on kit that doesn't appear to require any engine disassembly. It's actually a charge cooler IIRC i.e. water-air and is smaller than a similar air-air intercooler as used in the Turbo 993s.
I would very much like to get mine done but it's not priority no. 1 unless I get a load more disposable cash soon!
