Afternoon guys,

I'm after a new PC. I've recently bought a 3d printer, and while its great printing out crap other people have already drawn, to make the best use of it, I need to learn to draw. I've tried a copy of Solidworks and my current laptop just isn't up to it, and with my son getting nearly 6, he'll be starting to want a PC for homework in the next couple of years and a desktop seems better for that than the laptop. I've no intention of doing any gaming, I did all that 15+ years ago, and while it was fun while living in a student house with my mates, it's not something I'd do now, even if I did have the time. The only other thing I would use it for is a bit off video editing. I bought a drone last year and got some good footage, but tbh didn't do much with it partially because the laptop was too frustrating to use being relatively small screen and too slow. Unfortunately it's been so long since I've had anything to do with PCs (the last PC I had used XP!), I've no idea what is good or not. I've set myself a budget of around £1k, if that includes a bit of scope to buy a £150 27" monitor then fine, it not the monitor can be on top of the £1k. Ideally I want something that won't be out of date in a few years time, so if my son did show an interest in PC gaming he could, or at least have the ability to be upgraded to a state that he could.

I've been looking on eBuyer, and there are a few options that caught my eye.

This is main contender AlphaSync Onyx RTX 3060 Intel Core i5 10400F 4.3GHz 16GB 500GB Windows 11 Home Gaming PC

This one is a bit cheaper AlphaSync Onyx GTX 1660Ti Intel Core i5 16GB RAM 1TB HDD 500GB SSD Gaming Desktop PC

This is the same price as the 1st one, but I think a lower spec but with more storage AlphaSync Onyx GTX 1660 SUPER Intel Core i5 16GB RAM 1TB HDD 500GB SSD Gaming Desktop PC

This monitor seems to do what I want and has speakers so less clutter BenQ GL2780E 27-Inch 1080p 1ms 75Hz LED Gaming Monitor

If the 1st one is perfect, but I end up needing more storage, then that's easy to add in later, but if the 1st is way overkill for what I was and either of the others will still be up to the task in the next 5 years or more (I guess 10 years would be a bit of a stretch!?) then I'l go for the extra storage up front.

It seems optical drives arn't much of a consideration in cases these days, but I've got a USB DVD writer that I bought for my laptop, and I've got a decent mouse and keyboard that I can use, so I think it's just the actual PC and monitor that I need, at least for now.

Any help would be great.

eta just had a look, a 1TB HDD is between 30 and 50 quid. How the hell did that happen! I remember paying a couple of hundred quid for a 250GB! So if my first choice above is going to do the trick, I'll definitely be looking at adding some extra storage!
