I'm in the market for another Tuscan, I have seen a beautiful Tuscan S and a nice regular Tuscan.........but thats where problem begins.

The Tuscan S is a 2003 with 15k miles and allegedly no problems or rebuild, which is my concern.

The rugular Tuscan is also a 2003 but has recently had a full rebuild, which obviously makes it quite appealing in terms of reliability but the colour combo is not exactly to my taste.

So the question has to be which should I buy?

The final curve ball is a really nice T350 but similarly this has had no rebuild.

Any helpful comments or suggestions would be greatfully received.

Don't worry about the rebuild, hence take the standard Tuscan out of the equation.

You then only have to worry about whether you prefer the T350 or the Tuscan S.

I'm loving Tuscan S's at the moment, but the T350 is so good as well.

Don't think you can make a bad decision personally.

Personally, from the amount of cars reported on here that have had several rebuilds, I would be more inclined to think '....if it's had one it'll probably have to have more very soon....'.

In other words, I don't think the quality of the rebuild work done has been very good. But as I say, that just comes from what I read on here.

Whereas the one without a rebuild would tell me it has probably been treated properly and 'is a good one'.

Just my view on it....

My 2002 'S' went at 18,000, and I was careful with it. so there arent many clues about engine quality just because its got to 15K.
However, go for an 'S' if you can. Much better drive than standard.

Too be honest, I had a quick Chimaera 500 and my mates have said my new Tuscan was no quicker, which was rather dissapointing. Its in for the rebuild now, and I've stumped up another few grand for an S Engine to be fitted.
It all boils down to what you want. I'm always after the next thrill, so the standard 4 ltr was more of a side step in repect to performace, but blew away the chim on looks. Hence I would always go for the S, Full Fat!!!

I think the actual engines vary to a degree
as if I go out for a blast with my mate who
has the S model and me with my little old
standard one there is no difference in performance
in a straight line at all.Mine is 360bhp and I
believe the S has 30bhp more which is probably
swollowed up by my mates XXL figure anyway

I've had a Tuscan S Mk1 and I now have a Mk11 S. Difference is chalk and cheese. The power in the mark 2 is much more usable. In any event having driven both modes in standard and S for me there is only one decision. Get an S. If you're looking for a pre owned mk 1 then I would suggest you go for one that has had a rebuild. There's a dealership in Wigan that might have one.

Depending on your budget - get a Sagaris. Probably the best all round TVR made to date. And if you still want a Tuscan, note they have a new dashboard design for the Tuscan 2 Mark 2.
