I thought they had canned the idea of a V12 for a more powerful version of the V8.

Mind you, with the way they're going it could be a 6-cyl with a big hybrid unit

Might need to be careful proclaiming 'The Worlds Most Powerful SUV'.
Some vehicle manufacturers (probably not SUVs yet) have 1,500 bhp powered cars.

Maybe a V8 S version with a bit more horsepower.

Is the most powerful suv currently the 650bhp lambo? If so they must be aiming to top that. Certainly the AMG engine is good for 660bhp.

Never heard of it myself but mr google says our good friends over the pond have a 710bhp SUV, so seems AM are going to have the up the ante even further. A mere 660bhp won't meet the claim.

Funny though, that AM's core sports car has not received a proper power upgrade as a separate 'S' model since launch but the DBX suddenly comes out with an almighty?

I think the word 'Luxury' may be key. So maybe compare to a Rolls or Bentley rather than a Dodge or Porsche.

Yes, "Luxury SUV" seems to be the benchmark, which still means 600+ bhp.

Maybe an engine based on the AMG E63S?

Or, I'm sure that might be wishful thinking as it sounds more like a conventional V8 and won't suit a SUV, the flat crank engine out of the AMG GT BS, which AML is using for the Valhalla.

I'm wondering if AML will use the Valhalla engine in any other model with all the expenses spent on type approval.
