Hi,

Wondered if someone could help/advise please. Apologies in advance for such a boring post!

Am trying to sell a "boring daily" on eBay. I haven't used eBay for any reason for a good couple of years.

Anyway, I logged in to my eBay account, prepared the listing and went to list the item for sale and was met with a message that "Your (my) eBay account has been temporarily locked due to concerns that someone may have used it without your (my) permission."

Since I last used eBay I've moved house so had to change my eBay account address details when I just logged in. Furthermore, my previous bank payment card for eBay fees had expired so I updated that too.

Trying to contact eBay to get to the bottom of this is a nightmare!

Just wondered if anyone has experienced similar and how the issue was overcome.

Many thanks.

Sounds a fairly basic fraud check - sudden change of use, change of payment details, change of address.

Exactly what a fraudster would do if they had your details.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

It's good eBay are checking for possible fraudulent activity but an indication from eBay as to how long that may take would have been useful.

I guess I just have to wait and see if/when they re-open my account then.

Many thanks again.

Good luck with this.

I have found eBay CS to be utter morons when they revoked my sellers privileges after I moved in with my partner of the time.

All because she had resold a copied dvd on eBay ( that she bought on ebay!).

By association of address I was perma banned and despite not living with her anymore they would never undo it.

Thanks Bungz.

Your experience sounds a nightmare!

Hopefully, and assuming eBay are doing their fraud checks, my eBay account will be reactivated soon. I'm not holding my breath though!

In the mean time i'd consider listing on Gumtree instead, no fees to stick on a basic advert and it's one of my go to places looking for cars for sale now, in fact I bought one off there just last weekend.

Without wanting to sound like a cock, which I'm about to...

If you haven't used eBay in a while, is a car the best thing to returning to it, to sell?

Seems like every other post about eBay is about car scams!

Go careful!

It's easily avoidable by doing a classified advert instead of a bid/buy it now

Then it is purely just that, an advert - Quite cheap too for a month, I usually do one a week or so before I list on Autotrader but I have only ever sold one car via eBay.
