Modifying to allow for complete gear cable outer run

As in another thread. Commuting daily is taking its toll on the bike. Namely shifting. Now the bike has a lot of exposed gear cable for the rear gears. Considering I essentially got the frame for £8 (cube peleton), once I split for parts.

Im extremely tempted to drill the gear cable stops and run a complete length. Any reason why I shouldn't?!

Yes. You don’t need to drill out the cable stops. Run full-length housing (that’s ok) but attach it to the frame with cable ties.

Jagwire Road Pro housing and their Teflon cables will make your shifts buttery smooth.

Prior to being based from home since Covid, I used to commute about 5k pa.

Plenty of exposed cable on the commuter Croix de Fer. I use Jagwire stainless steel inners on it, swapping them out once a year. Bought in bulk off ebay they're only a couple of £ each, probably changed the outers twice in 8yrs.

Put Di2 (SRAM equivalent) on it - then there are no cables to replace
