Anyone got experience of using these modules.
I can send data to and from Andriod device using the transparent UAART service and from the uart end I can select Command mode by sending it $$$ and drive and read the individual IO pins. What I can't figure is how to drive the pins via the Bluetooth connection. The user note seem less than helpful in explaining this.

Not used this particular device but have used earlier models from the same family. If you haven't already got the user guide:
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/50...
The bit you need is around page 27-28. In a nutshell, once connected using the transparent UART feature you need to Issue a command (!,1) to enter remote command mode. Thereafter it should work as if talking to the UART except you get an RMT> prompt back instead of CMD>.

Thank you

Yes, that is what the instructions say, however the remote command, if sent direct from a Bluetooth device doesn't seem to get the expected response. I wondered if it would only work for some reason if using two modules at each end rather than one module and data sent from code on different BLE device as I have. It says the unit should be in transparent mode which is convenient as if I link the data TX RX pins I can validate that the command was received as it is echoed back but without the remote message. Plainly it is something I am not understanding.

I wondered if the ! Command told the local device to ignore $$$ so the process if using two modules is ! Then $$$ to get the remote end into command. I have now started to work on a custom service to contain the port data so I can access it that way. It is a shame that the user manual for these units is probably only clear to the person who wrote it.
