Last Saturday I picked up my first Porker and am over the moon with it !! Goes, sounds and feels incredible - the move from a VX220 Turbo was quite a shock ! :D

Just one thing - does anyone else get annoyed by the microswitch you can hear clicking when the clutch is about 80% depressed ?

Here she is :driving:

Lovely machine sir, and yes, you're probably being too picky. Savour roof down of a summers' eve, rolling start and find somewhere you can keep your foot pinned all the way through the rev range - total bliss.

Have fun

I can't hear any microswitches clicking.
However my gearchanges are quite fast (this suits the car) and the 2.7 needs to be "driven" to get the best out of it.

Beautiful car by the way! A pic of my 2.7 is in my profile. Must get me one of those photo hosting accounts.

Bazza,

I'm mns on boxsta.net, as said on there, fantastic car, nice choice of colour! ;-)

I wish I had mine now to moan about the microswitch instead of having to wait another 6 weeks!

Normally find pressing the right pedal marked 'LOUD' helps the microswitch problem

As a fellow 987S owner, I'd be interested to hear what spec you went for?

Just found this web site and couldn't help but to join in the forum. I noticed your new boxster which looks identical to mine (nice choice of colours/wheels i reckon) and you also sound as pleased as i am. This is my first Porsche and so i wondered if you have any teething problems regarding leaking windows (near the wing mirrors) when you clean it or smoking from start up (i have posted a seperate message on the forum for this)

My better half picked up her spanking new 2.7 on thursday.

I have noticed the microswitch clicking and wondered if it was a case of tadts.

Apart from that, we are both totally delighted with it.

Hardly a major complaint is it, could be worse!

And hello to all boxster owners!!

Get my mildly second-hand 3,000 mile Boxster S on Friday.
Seal with black leather, pasm, heated seats, cruise, climate, tracker, 19's, BOSE, xenons, CD-4

Going straight up to it's natural habitat of the Highlands as soon as I get it, over the bealich na ba to Applecross

She absolutely loves it. Finds the clutch "surprisingly easy to use" and the "brakes very progressive". Doesnt find the relative blindspots over your shoulders as an issue as the mirrors are superb.

I have driven it a few times and stalled it and struggled to restart the car for some reason. Is there a specific procedure.?? Ended up removing key and reinserting after a few seconds. Felt like a lifetime stalled at the junction with a queue behind forming rapidly.

We both love the car to bits. We went for basic spec i.e - 2.7, basalt black (Seal is lovely too and was 2nd choice), partial leather, parking sensors, windbreak, auto aircon and thats about it. Even stuck with the 17s which it rides really well on after driving demo on 19s. Just at about 750 miles now and cant wait for it to be fully run in to give it some stick.

Saw the new one today. Looks quite meaty, more of a blokes car now, like it. Way better than the old one.

I've just done 2 tanks of fuel on 400 miles of twisty roads in the far far North West on it's first 2 days with me and it's amazing. Steering, suspension, brakes, engine, engine noise! Only things I can fault so far are the bose stereo which is not worth nearly a grand. Floaty front end at quite illegal speeds, inherrant in a mid-engine car I suppose. Oh and a fairly strong clutch smell afer a mild thrash. High rpm gear changes I suppose. Any idea on clutch and tyre life on one of these?

It sounds a very similar spec to ours, 'cept we also have 18's, Porsche wheel centres and sound package plus. I agree the mirrors are fantastic.

Ours is loosening up nicely at 6K miles.

I feel your pain. I stall the Boxster way more often than any other manual transmission car I have ever owned. There are a few things to remember while you are frantically trying to restart the car:

First - make sure you turn the key all the way off. Just turning the key to the start position won't work. You don't need to remove it, but make sure you go all the way to the left before you try starting the car again.

Second - make sure you have the clutch pedal pressed all the way to the floor. The safety swtich seems to be activated with the pedal very close to the floor, and when you are looking in the mirror at steam coming out of the ears of the drivers behind you it is easy to have the clutch engaged, but not the safety switch.

give her some revs!

p.s. I heard the clutch microswitch for the first time this AM, but only with the engine off. With the engine running it's not a problem.
