Having had my Toyota Aristo in storage and daily driving my TT for the past year, I'm in need of a motorway munching daily driver. (TT will getting some loving) Average trip would be at least 30miles a day (a roads) when used as about to start a new job. Also the 500mile round trip up north every month.

I've been looking at car as a 'can do everything' as as the past few have been small cars but havent been great on the longer trips... but I'd like it to get above 30 preferably 40mpg+. Pretty flexible on size (bigger than the TT really). Even MK2 TDI TT have crossed my mind....(which is top of the list as a daily)

Main requirements
Cruise control, comfy heated seats are a must. Fairly issue free on average.

This list of suspects came up,
Alfa Gui 1.4t, (wasn't sold on it plus no heated seats),
Octavia VRS (only high mile tdi)
Toyota Camry (low mpg Vs TT but solid)
Saab TTid aero estate (love the look, but getting old)
Audi TT MK2 TDi (abit bigger, better mpg, vag TDI)
Merc (various) clk etc petrol/diesel. Just don't like the styling of the double headlights.

I've very little in terms of want really. So opens the board up for alot.

but wondered if anyone had some good stories of similar requirements and what they went for.

Price range
Under 7.5k and cheaper the better.

For your needs I would go for a really high spec humble badged barge like a Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Insignia.

This would do a nice job -
