Wondered if you could settle a dispute between fellow petrol heads over the above topic.

They are both 3.6L with bigger turbos than standard on 996TT but are there other differences and which has the greatest upgrade potential if they are different.

They do have different quoted power outputs, 450 for X50 and 462 / 480 for GT2 but how they get the power i do not know. I assumed it was mapping and turbo pressure.

The X50 runs upto 0.9 bar and the GT2 runs upto 1.0 bar on the same turbos. GT2 has additional stuff which makes up the extra cost, such as different suspension, better gearbox cooler etc.

Engine upgrade potential powerwise is identical, although the GT2 will be faster as it's lighter, wouldn't want to bet against a turbo when the roads are damp or wet though.
