Will it shoot flames.
Discussion
Silly question really but does the speed six shoot visible flames on the overrun? Or do you need a de cat or custom ECU. Mine has the rear boxes removed and sleeved cans. Never been behind one in the dark and no evidence on YouTube.
Slow friday.......

It’s all about the mapping I think. Slow friday.......

On the RV8 engined cars a mapper can increase or decrease the amount of pops and bangs and if asked to do so could probably add fuel on deceleration until you have enough of it spitting into exhaust headers to then create flames out the back.
I’d talk to Powers or Joolz.
It happens on my 450 Chim if I floor it, when I get to 5500 revs + then shut off it’s been known to bang and a short flame comes out the pipes. I’m not sure this is very good for your engine in the longer run though. My car was mapped Catted and this only happened when I’d gone de cat without a re map. I went back to Catted and it’s never done it since so I think it’s extra fuel in the mapping designed for a cat that caused it?
I don’t think you can do this to a catted car unless you overload it with fuel

Almost every souped up hot hatch can do it so I’m sure a TVR can.
Not for me on a plastic car to be honest and each to their own but when I see it I just think the cars f

It would be good to know from an expert what these explosive pulses must do to an engine if anything?
Do these flames start when the charge meets the atmosphere as in when it gets close to the oxygen source (the tail of the exhaust) or earlier down the pipe. Tvr exhaust are pretty good but not sure they would last long with huge charges running through it constantly and exploding out the rear.
Interesting subject though.
You can get an extra map on RV8 after market ecu so maybe instead of a pops and bangs mode you could go for full on “flames out the back” mode if your ecu allows 2 maps?

My car was mapped to give me pops and bangs from 1700 revs and lower and that’s exactly where it happens unless I trail a bit of throttle on and it will do it at almost any revs. Only full throttle then shutting off did it ever create an actual flame and only once that I’m aware of.

With a decat and the rear cans straight through you’ll get the odd visible in the dark ball of flame popping out on the overrun. But nothing spectacular as the engine is simply too far away, unlike a mid-engine car where it’s easier to achieve. If you want it to shoot flames then such a “feature” needs to be specifically mapped into the ECU.

My old Tuscan used to shoot flames out the back. De-cat, sleeved exhausts, also I heated shield wrapped the whole system from manifolds back.Slow friday.......
