New (to me) 991 Carrera S
Discussion
I have just agreed to purchase my first Porsche, very excited!
2014 991 Carrera S with 19k on clock at Porsche Portsmouth.
I had a Macan S on order, but due to the long way had too much time to look at what else could be bought for the same money, so here we are!
I've got to wait a week for it to have a few stone chips/ scratches/ leather touch ups done then should be in it next weekend.
Has anyone put apple CarPlay in theirs? Can you recommend a supplier/ installer (I am not capable of installing it myself)
Here are some pictures

Lovely car, regarding the carplay, yes it's possible with your PCM. The process is a little full on so best left to a shop to do it, as it involves taking unit apart and soldering in the car play unit.
Cost is just shy of £1k and honestly is worth it and I'll be doing it to my 981 (same head unit)

Super thank you very much. It really is needed, and that looks like a very slick instal too. Cost is just shy of £1k and honestly is worth it and I'll be doing it to my 981 (same head unit)

My only slight concern is voiding the warranty by fitting it. May leave it a couple of months in case any niggles come to light with the PCM before doing the upgrade

Always good to wait a couple of months post purchase before any upgrade just to make sure you haven't got a lemon. Though these cars are very strong and don't really suffer from electrical gremlins. The carplay is completely hidden, and they'd have to open up the PCM to see it. I don't know if you saw but essentially a two second press on the nav button opens up the carplay.
Perhaps a spring present to yourself

Ask me how I know - 991 GTS which had a PDK controller fault recently...

Just a heads up on this, the OPCs are aware of the car play retrofits and how they work. They will know if one has been fitted and it will give you grief if you have electrical issues and expect to claim under warranty.

None of these should require any external box out of the PCM.

Congratulations on your 991S .Great start to a new year.
My experience is that OPCs vary in their attitude to non
Porsche mods.I have had problems with tyre choice and
fitting rad grills. If you have Porsche warranty which Is a good idea it’s worth checking with your OPC
I did ask my salesman and he said any non Porsche mods would invalidate warranty, so I am going to live with the car as is for a few months then weigh up the CarPlay upgrade... My experience is that OPCs vary in their attitude to non
