Bottom of the curve, future classics to buy now!
Discussion
Rules:
1) It cannot be too obvious; of course a 996 Turbo will be a classic & yes prices may be bottomed out at £40k but this is for mere mortals. Think Practical Classics.
2) It has to be bottom of the curve, that point all the greats get to when one major mechanical sees them scrapped as not worth repairing.
3) Have fun & don’t squabble!
4) Try not to make it all about your own car.

An early duo-select Maserati Quattroporte V, almost a twenty year old design now....
Armed with a decent slush fund of course
Stunning car with a slush fund, although I preferred the proper Auto! Armed with a decent slush fund of course

E46 M3s are only going one way, but a slightly cheaper way to get an S54 engine might be in one of these.

I thought the same.
Especially as even the P38 is growing in value.
The L322 in my view is far prettier.
I would go for the relatively bulletproof Jaguar engine

Very early petrol V8 L332.
Very very cheap.
Charming quirks like the centre console key and chunky buttons.
BMW engine.
These are going to be sought after.

Civic (Mk8/FN2) Type R. Still lots around for sensible money at the moment, but maybe not many good ones at sensible money.
The white campaign models are starting to increase, indicating a good clean "standard" model will move soon. Seems strange that the Mk8 came out 17 years ago now, makes me feel old.

Since I got tagged (or blamed
)in the initial post, I'll through my hat in the ring:
e53 X5 (yes, I'm also biased
)
Justification;
The first BMW SUV (although they called it an SAV), so in the same vein as the original Land & Range Rovers, started a trend;
First mainstream BMW built in the USA (Z3 notwithstanding)
Designed by notable designer (Frank Stephenson) who has quite an impressive portfolio; (Maserati MC12, McLaren P1, Mini, Ferrari F430)
Practical, good range of engines & options, including Alpina V8s & some LR bits such as HDC & air suspension;
For what they are, quite fun to drive;
Probably sunk as low as they can go, value wise, although remains to be seen if they'll actually climb.

Cheap, looks great, convertible high days and holidays car.
Funnily, i was just about to post that. Three litre petrol.Cheap, looks great, convertible high days and holidays car.
This looks like value at under £5K.

Not being that clued up on when RRs were facelifted etc, I need to ask - I've got my eye on an '08 plate RR Vogue 3.6 TDV8 that's for sale on my doorstep, would it be an L332 or another variant?
The Range Rover III from 2002-12 is the L322 and there are 3 variants (2 facelifts) of it, as far as I am informed.I am sure there are better informed people on here than me but I think ´08 plate would be the intermediate model.

I think too many about to hit rarity, but could be fun. I might even be tempted myself.

Another candidate for the thread from Maserati - the 3200 Coupe, the first full new car from the company under Ferarri's wing as I recall, they have their issues but are full of character.
