So as you can see when I type a word it creates a suggestion for an image as a representation of the word however I don't like this as I'm forever hitting the wrong button accidentally and after typing a lengthy sentence I then have to prat about removing the images. Does anyone know what this feature is called and how to disable it? Also bit odd this keyboard space bar says Microsoft on my Android phone?? Thanks in advance.

Thanks though I had a good look around languages & input and saw a variety of keyboard settings but nothing of the emoji sort.

I got to that menu by having the keyboard open, then pressing the little cog symbol that appears above it. The other way is to open all settings and search "emoji" from the all settings thing.

I gave it try and it did stop them appearing at least. Depends on the phone/version of Android etc I suppose.

I don't have any cog or settings feature within the keyboard, I tried a search on emoji but no results, these used to be called emoticons..

You’re using Microsoft swiftkey for your keyboard. If you don’t want it, uninstall it. If you just want to turn off the emoji predictive text, open the app, click 'Emoji', toggle ‘Emoji predictions’ to Off.

Also, emoji aren’t emoticons, but that’s a whole different conversation smile

I don't recall installing the keyboard, I'm very concerned if it was not there by default.

I can't find any way to open the app as a standalone app, there are no settings called emoji either..

As a keyboard it’s been available on android for at least a decade.

What keyboards do you available from Settings, system, languages and input, virtual keyboard?

I don't think there are any other keyboards, but I think a chinese one is in there, God knows why, however when I click on a keyboard icon whilst the keyboard is showing it has the word Change and the has two options, MS swift or Google voice typing so I guess there are no other keyboards. Would like to keep predictive text but I just think this emoji crap is so frustrating.

If you can't disable it in SwiftKey then open the Play Store and install something like G Board instead and set that as your default keyboard.
You can definitely disable emojis from the settings menu in G Board.

Other keyboards are of course available if you so choose, but a lot of people and devices have settled on G Board now.
