Name That Song
Discussion
In, I think, the 1970s, there was a song played a fair bit on the radio. Part of the chorus, or a refrain somewhere, was the longest Maori place name: "Taumata whakatangi hangakoauau o tamatea turi pukakapiki maunga horo nuku pokai whenua kitanatahu". At least, I think that's what they were saying. It was spoken rather than sung.
What was the song?

Oh no, flashback! Some local Manchester radio station (probably Piccadilly) used that as a regular listener challenge - the caller had to repeat the words to win. Stuck in my head now.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hchOYs_d_Bw&ab...

Didn't take long.

Thank you.

Biggest problem for me is that when you go looking for a song you can stuff yourself.
I had an anime theme tune stuck in my head. In the end I went onto YouTube to look for possible candidates. First thing I tried was Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was not that, but now I have the theme tune to Neon Genesis Evangelion stuck in my head and can't remember the original tune. Still, at least I know what is stuck in my head is the theme to Neon Genesis Evangelion. LOL

So you kill, one earworm and identify another both at the same time? I had an anime theme tune stuck in my head. In the end I went onto YouTube to look for possible candidates. That's pro-level, that is.

Thread resurrection.
This may be difficult, I’m not in anyway musical, have no knowledge of genre’s and can’t remember how old it is; listening to BB king earlier on media channel, I heard a compere that triggered the memory.
The compere voice seems to be disguised as being from an earlier era than I think it is, also sounds like they have inhaled helium, seems to incorporated as part of the track.
Genre; be-bop I think, lots of horns, vocals but not discernable. Vocals fade out to a near finish, and then suddenly the horns bring the track back to like. Very catchy and boppy.
Introduction; from (so and so) club, recorded for blue note records, then straight in.
On the CD I had, many variations of the same track.
Any ideas, I’ve almost got it but not quite!

Quest solved, I expect a bit of a slagging off for being a bit partial to dross, just nice know what it is. You know when you have something in your head but can’t remember, it bugs you,
