991.2 GT3 Vs 991.1 RS thoughts?
Discussion
Having had an awesome couple of years in my 458 I fancy a bit of a change and have along standing itch to scratch in the form of a 911 GT3. I've had a couple of Cayman and even an aircooled 911 before but just really fancy a GT3.
There's an almost crossover on prices from a top spec 991.2 to a 991.1 RS and just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the two? I have driven an RS on track a couple of years ago but neither on the road. Car would be used on track and for road trips/daily duties so a bit of everything. I have a couple of more dedicated track cars so the track use it doesn't have to be at the detriment of road manners.
I would really love a Crayon 991.2 I almost bought one before getting the 458 but is it worth the push to an RS?
Feel free to PM me if you have one of these to sell. I have empty garage syndrome which I'm not very good at dealing with!

Assuming you want a PDK?
Find the 991.2 GT3 a step above the 991.1 RS and not just because of the better engine with higher rev limit much better sounding too especially fantastic induction noise with no weaknesses which are inherent in the RS unit. 2 year min newer car at similar money too better interior and media etc.
Fair enough some prefer the lairier looks of the RS but to many its ott especially for road use the GT3 is the sweetspot imo.
As a brief aside and without going off topic I would be intrigued to have your view on the forthcoming Emira bearing in mind your Lotus knowledge.
What year mileage and spec is your 458?

Wow never expected this thread after all your posts about the 458 being the best car on the planet and a keeper ?
Get the 458 is an old car now but Why the change of heart and especially to a porker ?
The 458 had been great and I probably have another one in the future. Lotus are the best car on the planet though obviously! Get the 458 is an old car now but Why the change of heart and especially to a porker ?
This year's plans are including probably 2 ring trips and a DN/Spa 3 day track trip so fancied a gt3 for this trip.
The 458 has appreciated over what I paid so the trips planned plus opportunity to jump out having not had any expenses on the Ferrari just seemed to make sense. The 458 is an awesome track car but they aren't really the thing to be battering around the Nordshlife.

Emira will be great just go drive a 410 Evora for a sneak Peek. For all the fuss its the same car. I haven't ordered one I've had a 410 Evora and not sure I'd be bothered for having a turbo one and the auto in the V6 is not that great.
If anything I could see getting another 410 when the prices crash. Not a bad butly at 35/40k when the used Emiras start hitting the market!
991.2 all day. I’ve had two, both manual and PDK, and both versions were the best cars I’ve driven. Granted, that’s a relatively short list and mainly Porsche. But I’m starting to regret selling my manual car and looking to get back into another soon.

Has to be a ultra violet 991.1 gt3 rs all day long.
+1 but then I'm very biased :-) and have driven both manual and PDK 991.2 GT3's. For me the RS is a more special experience but 'each to their own' fridaypassion said:

Agree its probably the best time to get out of a 458 with profit at todays inflated prices so fair play for recognising thatThis year's plans are including probably 2 ring trips and a DN/Spa 3 day track trip so fancied a gt3 for this trip.

Ha if you think you've seen anything on 458 Prices strap yourself in! They are way to cheap for what they are at the moment. The last Ferrai NA V8 and you can still pick good ones up for 120 to 140k? They will be 200k within 5 years I can 100% guarantee it. If I kept mine would I spend 60k in 6 years looking after it? Possibly so its all swings and roundabouts but if you like proper drivers cars and dislike turbos as I think a lot of people do there are not all that many 458s around. They are going mental in the USA at the moment. JCT have just sold an italia off market for 170k which is a bit of a breakthrough price. AV
Re the Emira they fall into an odd place for me the manual is the one to have as they do do an auto in the V6 but its a pretty poor torque converter. Obviously the AMG is auto only but turbo. If they did the v6 with a proper dual clutch gearbox I would have had one.
