Does anyone know this 05 V8 Vantage?
Discussion
Hi all
On the hunt for an early V8V and this car has been sitting around for quite some time....
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202107094...
The (Aston Specialist) dealer has excellent reviews, and looks like a sorted car with warranty etc, and VERY low miles.
It's only a grand or two more than other much leggier private cars that I keep seeing come and go quite quickly over the last few months...
Anyone seen it or know it?

Expect you have seen the hilarious MoT failure in 2013.
Reason(s) for failure
Front registration plate missing (6.3.1a)
Rear registration plate missing (6.3.1a)
"Well that's odd Sir, they must have both fallen off on the way here."
"Is that what happened Mate? £50 for the MoT please." -

And I bet they went through all the motions of the full test too... Nice one...Jon39 said:

I can see how it happened. One year my car needed new front tyres, and it was coming up to MOT time. So I got two new tyres delivered to the garage, the (obvious) idea being that they would fit them, then do the MOT. Sadly this plan was beyond their grasp, so the car is on record as having failed an MOT with bald front tyres Reason(s) for failure

I immediately thought it was just the price that was the sticking point but given what you say about leggy private cars now only a few k less, perhaps not. Mine had a few issues to sort but makes the £22k I sold it for seem very much on the low side. Still miss that car. Beautiful thing.

I had similar with a Mercedes SL I bought from a well respected garage, which had an impeccable MOT history with no fails.
They said they would service and MOT it, but did the MOT first and failed it on an incorrectly adjusted headlight, nothing else, then proceeded to adjust it and re Mot'd it, then carried out the service.

a mate told me that any MOT station must have a certain quota of failures each month
It's the only answer that makes sense, even if it isn't sensible. However it means that for every perfectly good car they fail, they can wave a basket case through... witness the XKR I bought by mail order last year...

I don't believe the "quota of failures" argument. I file that in the same round, circular receptacle as "Aston (or other brand of your choice that you're dissing) doesn't fix the xxxxx problem because they make too much on selling the spares"However it means that for every perfectly good car they fail, they can wave a basket case through... witness the XKR I bought by mail order last year...
While I agree that not fitting the new tyres then failing an MOT on the old, bald tyres does seem particularly brain-dead, in most cases with a modern service they will not be checking many of the MOT items. For example (and I'm willing to earn hatred here) I don't know any service schedule that checks, say, the alignment of the headlamps; they may check all lamps work but I doubt they'll roll out the beam alignment equipment, so unless you're illuminating helicopters as you drive it'll go unnoticed. On this basis it does make sense to MOT the car, then carry out a service, along with having a work-to list; it also means you can contact the owner and tell him that the car has just failed on something like a suspension bush and does he want it fixed? An additional benefit for the dealer is the car is only in the workshop once; otherwise it's in the workshop for service, then MOT, then back in the workshop to fix the failures, then re-MOT.
If the car passes the MOT first time then the order obviously makes no difference.
But this is all getting a bit off-topic, so sorry PopsandBangs
Yes sorry Popsandbangs for the thread drift but it doesnt stop AM Bristol being w@ankers for what they did, whatever their reasoning was. They did pick up the low tread during the service, they did contact me and tell me, i did tell them to put new tyres on all round yet they still f
king failed it. Knobs.

In all fairness, that tread hadn't reduced to a warning or failure level only 1 mile outside Bristol...

king failed it. Knobs.I certainly did not expect it to be failed, they didnt give me a failure sheet either, i found out myself on line on the Gov website so maybe they realised theyd f
ked up and didnt want a scene in the showroomI bet you go round all your tyres every time you take the car out? To be honest its not in all fairness either, i will never take my business there again.
And whilst im on the subject, they stamped the sevice book wrong too, they stamped it in the 10 year box rather than the 7 year box, so effectively having two clear years with with no service entry in it. They did rectify it but after much deliberation.
Useless is too good for them.
Hi popsandbangs,
I think we may be in a similar scenario and looking for the same thing. Unsure what car the original link was for prior to it obviously selling, but I am after an early 4.3 in one of the silver/green metallics.
I've been reading as much as I can on here but I guess I need to get myself the book on the Gaydon cars to really know enough to feel comfortable with the potential pitfalls!
I noticed one on the 'sterlingcarsreading' website (FJ07OTR) but have not read glowing reviews on them and it likely would have come from auction like all of their stock. Feel free to have a google for it - would be interesting to know if anyone knows much about that car. The MOT history does't start off well in its early life, but seems to get better in more recent years.
Another one advertised on AT that is unusual blue and cream interior is this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111239...
It's annoying that it has 79,800mls in the advert yet even the pic has 81,517mls!
Will let you know if I see anything else of interest. Black and dark colours are not very appealing for me on this model for some reason.

If it helps I bought my 2008 4.3 from Aston Workshop up near Durham. Worth a look on their site. If you call them im sure they can give you first refusal on any 4.3 they get in stock.
Warning: they have a wonderful workshop and sales area. The temptation to put a deposit on something more than a 4.3 will be quite powerful lol
They also rectified a lot of things on the car before I bought it, probably totalling over 3k worth of stuff if I had had to pay for it all.

Looks a nice car.
I bought my 2006 years ago and it has the early seats too and haven't been abe to part with it as it is the car as launched and uncluttred by skirts etc. Had other cars where normally I would have p'xd it, including a V12V, but it is so iconic and easy to live with. Keep looking and again AML/Bridgemill are very good indeed as mine has been going there since 2012/3
