So I was searching for an AMG GTR initially, unfortunately I couldn't find one in the spec I wanted within my budget, after looking for a while I realised I could increase my budget slightly and get in to a 720s, which I have always wanted since they were released. I ended up putting a deposit down on a 2018 car with 17,000 miles. A few days after leaving the deposit, a 2021 car popped up with 1100 miles, it was more expensive obviously, but the value for money just seemed much better. At first I was not sold on the colour, and did not want leather, the dealer then sent me a video of the car and I fell in love.

It's MSO Flux Silver and I believe it is the only 720s in this colour outside of the USA, it is not something offered on the configurator for the 720. It is quite packed with carbon featuring packs 1 and 2, as well as the rear bumper and rear diffuser. Inside it has the carbon black leather, whilst I still prefer the Alacantara, I was not willing to pay an extra £20k to get in to a similar spec Performance spec over Luxury, and now that I have it I am very pleased with the leather.

On the driving front, what a brilliant car. It is so compliant when just driving around, but put it in to Sport or Track and it really does come alive. Easily the best supercar I have owned, the speed, the handling and the feedback are all brilliant. I have had a full alignment done by Suspension Secrets, and this has transformed the car even further, traction is much better, understeer has vanished and the turn-in is much sharper. I cannot recommend them enough for any suspension or alignment work, they really are the best at what they do.

I only have the one picture at the minute and it doesn't really do the colour justice.

Excellent choice and yes unusual but stunning colour.

I had my Lotus done by Matt but not been out on track with it yet or much road use to compare the differences.

However if it is a good improvement Il probably get my 720 done also, so good to hear your experience, do you know what he actually did?

I fully concur on the Performance v Luxury debate ( you rarely see a standard car ) nothing to choose between the 2 except personal taste and everyone has one, mine is a Performance but would have had a Luxury in the right exterior colour which is the most important point for me

stunning colour, really like it - congratulations.

not sure if it's the lighting but it really reminds me of the Integrale Evo 2 colour - Pearl White

Thanks for the feedback, the colour has definitely grown on me! My two main caveats when looking were no silver or white and no leather, both of which this car has, but it seems to work really well, and for the price I really couldn't justify spending so much more for a similar spec, I'd rather save it for tyres, track days and fuel, and possibly some Surface Transforms if I can get a straight answer off McLaren about them invalidating the warranty if I use non OEM disks and pads.

Had her washed today.

He set it to -2.3 camber at the front and -1.8 at the back, I'm not too sure on the toe he set, but it appears to have made a good difference. Turn in is much sharper, understeer has been massively reduced to a point where it is virtually non existant, but the main difference is how much more traction there is. Overall it is much more confidence inspiring than it was when I picked up, it's money well spent. He did my old GT3RS and the difference on track was literally night and day, he is very good at what he does.

I didn't try it on track with the setup it came with so I won't be able to give a comparison there when I do my next track day unfortunately.

Unusual colour and spec but sounds like it was reflected in price and you have bagged a bargain.
As long as you like it and expect to get the same reduction when it comes to resale you are no worse off and have enjoyed a newer car for the period

What an absolutely epic car, well done and enjoy.

Prefer leather to alcantara personally

3 years into my Mac ownership, would never move to another brand, it has been a superb journey so far..

I've said before in another thread that silver is my favourite colour on a 720. Absolutely stunning!

Around 6 weeks in to ownership now and I absolutely love the car.

It is so compliant on UK roads, I honestly couldn't think of a better road going supercar for the money and our poor UK roads. The way you can put everything in comfort then when you want to have some fun, stick it in sport mode and manual, it's just incredible. I thought my old GT3RS was good on the roads, but it really isn't a patch on the 720s. It's not my daily, I have an F90 M5 for that, but as silly as this sounds, I would say the comfort level of the 720s is nearly as good as the M5, it is just that good, and that's not to say it doesn't come alive when you start to push in, it devours country roads and is a lot of fun to drive, lots of steering feel, the brakes are fantastic and the power is very addictive. I've got my first trackday booked later on in the month at Oulton, and I'm assuming it will be even better on track than it is on the road.

Recently had the MSO Extended Paddles fitted, these are a must have in my opinion. The standard paddles are far to short and stubby, the extended paddles make the entire experience better. I have also had a full car PPF done by Invisifilm who did a fantastic job and she is now all protected ready for some proper drives. I really love the colour as well, it gets so many compliments, I wasn't sure at first but the way it changes in the light, it's very unique.

On another note, the 992 Turbo S is seriously quick, was struggling to keep up on the cold roads in the Peak District, fantastic cars.

lovely looking car - good to see you are putting some enjoyable miles on it!

quick question, where did you get the extended paddles from. I'm thinking of getting some for mine.
Cheers

I got them off an eBay seller called supercarpartz, great price, fitting is fiddly but worth it.

Gorgeous, the 720 is a stunner.

I remember going on a school trip there as a kid hehe There are some great roads in the area. We were out that way a few years ago and I was amazed to come across that place, reminded me of that trip a long time ago.

That colours lovely!

Interesting you say about the comfort levels.. still not see a relatively high mile 720s yet.

Realistically if someone spends 100k on an M5 it will loose c45 k over first 4 years at a guess...

A £130/40k 720s will probably loose similar levels?? possibly a little more to run (thinking warranty more than fuel)

What's the main reason people avoid dallying these cars is them being impractical and worry of damage? as most people probably don't need more than 2 seats as a daily and in fact 4 seats are probably more needed for family duties at weekends!

Congrats on the purchase.

Mine has 40k on the clock and has never missed a beat, I initially bought it to sell on but it’s going nowhere, my background is Lamborghini but the 720 really is a bit special.
