Radio Panel Removal Question

Quick question if anyone around today

Am removing old radio panel surround and have amazed myself (considering numpty status) by getting most of the way in mere minutes and feeling pretty chipper, however last thing I still have connected is the alarm flasher/button thingy. Now this has no pulloff connector on the back and it looks like it has been pushed though pre wired and then the wires ran upto the alarm control unit. I do not have the top dash off as yet, which is where I believe the control unit is, so cannot disconnect it at that end - don't particularly want to have to do this as heard it is a bit of a bar steward.

The question is that this flasher bit is only connected by thin twin cabling (2 side by side wires like speaker cable), if I cut these and then rejoin with a connector block etc will it all be fine again or will I manage to muller the alarm and probably immobilise myself in the process?


p.s hope this is a standard feature and not some hangover from the nasty aftermarket alarm that car used to have fitted, flashes away though so must be attached to the current meta unit.

Whilst it's always better to be able to do it without damaging anything, yes you can the cut the wire and rejoin it BUT cut each individual wire at a time, to avoid the possibility of a short circuit. Mark the wire, too, unless each core is already identifiable, as the polarity is important.

It sounds like you mean the red flashing LED?!

This should pull out 'forwards' complete with its black plastic mounting bezel. Once free of the radio panel you should be able to remove the bezel from the LED. The LED itself is narrower than the bezel and will push straight through to the back of the radio panel - no need to cut wires. Refitting is a reversal of removal.
