Accounting Software for Tax Return

Not for this year obviously, but at this late stage my accountant shock horror is still flapping around after I’ve submitting everything to him in September.

So have btl, shares, Bitcoin and ultimately like a package like Taxcalc running with quicken as obviously need to get ready for MTD, any advice would be appreciated.

When MTD comes in fully there will be no tax return - at least that's what George Osborne told us.

Ask George what he meant.

When an HMRC official was interviewed on Radio 4 shortly afterwards, he stated categorically that there would never, ever be any more "returns". They would be a thing of the past. However, there would be "submissions".

And when an accountant on the discussion panel kept referring to "returns", he was told off by the chap from HMRC.

So a Wokey word change from return to submission, so the original question Tax calc for the “submission “ ?

Yes you could use Taxcalc, however not knowing much about you and what advice you may seek, i can only recommend finding a better accountant to look after your affairs. I am doubtful the return (or submission) is simply a case of filling in boxes and although it is great you submitted everything in September, a great accountant would have had a process to ensure that either a) you submitted and understood what was needed and b) a review step to ensure what was submitted was correct to avoid the messing about at the deadline.
