Hi folks been looking around for a Facebook alternative.

I'm afraid after my recent ban following a tongue in cheek comment about chopping off the hands of idiots who've yet again destroyed a local child's playground (multiple times this has happened), Zuckerberg wokes and its crappy algorithms with no ability to speak to its people, has bored me beyond belief.

Has anyone found another platform which appears to be a good upcoming platform with capabilities to receive news feeds and share posts with others (including safe environments for family)?

Looked at Minds but i seems to be very anti establishment and requires subscription.

cheers!

Do yourself a favour and don't bother.

It will just be another corporate behemoth sucking in your data in exchange for likes/interaction etc and feeling good about stuff for 5 seconds.

To quote the old TV series ..

'Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead?'

(Insert Facebook/computer/phone etc for Television set.)

https://youtu.be/3FQktsKvXcg

Get a hobby, learn to do something, go the gym, get outside.

Yeah, I looked at Minds a while back but it all seemed a bit "we know the truth, don't listen to the MSM" and I didn't find anything there to keep me going back.

What exactly do are you going to be using the social network for? Interacting with friends/family only? Interacting with strangers? Commenting on world events? Sharing photos you've taken?

I use Facebook for keeping up with friends/family and a bit of interaction with a few clubs I'm a member of, Instagram for sharing photos with strangers and that's about it really.

I agree and am of course a hypocrite who has sold my soul to the social media devil, it is useful as you say on occasion..

I remember the old BT advert “it’s good to talk”

It’s even more valid today… especially for family and friends… if that’s what they are, talk to them.

Sharing what you’re doing, rather than asking what your family/friends are doing as if you care, are two different things imo.

I’ve not used Facebook or similar for probably a decade now.

Forums yes, but not for family/friends.

As others have said its good for catching up with family/friends. Its also become good for clubs such as car clubs and getting news.

I had hoped Google+ would of taken off but it didn't, there is things like VK but English users on that are in the minority.

Pretty much Facebook but without the Facebook CONTROL/WOKE element....if that makes sense?!

100% this! I enjoy local community groups which probably means I can never leave FB unless someone else develops a new platform.

The Telegram messaging app https://telegram.org/ seems to be moving on from just messages, with channels and what not. So take a look.

Facebook can be what you want it to be - There's no need to put up with all the mindless low-grade crap that's on there.

Remove yourself from groups/pages that annoy you (or don't be tempted to comment if you're only there for information!)
Get rid of "friends" who aren't really friends.
Get rid of people who annoy you by unfriending or unfollowing.
Never make "public" posts - make them all "friends only".

There are many things you can do to make it a perfect tool for sharing/collaborating with family members. The problem is that the temptation is always there to get sucked into arguments with people who are too stupid to discuss things sensibly. Never underestimate the stupidity of some people!

Id love to sack FB off, but with groups, it seems to have replaced old school forums sadly, and the info from specialist groups is invaluable as we all know.

Theres also the local groups, which for better or worse, can at least alert the locals to any issues that may affect them.

I know its dire platform, but I dont think matches it for eyes on posts if that makes sense...

Same as me, I've grown up with computers and social media but at 33 FB for me I would like to loose, but I have to many car groups etc on there.

I much prefer Instagram these days.
