Jensen Healey GT
Discussion
How long has it been since you saw one of these? I have no idea, but they must now be very rare. The blurb says that Jensen Healey made 473 cars, but I can't imagine they mean of just this model, more likely the total of a rather short production before bankruptcy.. This is an original three owner example (the last since 1986) 34,000 mile example and is coming up for auction this weekend at Anglia Auctions, estimated at £12-16,000. What price rarity?

Jenson GT (I don't think they used Healey in the name of the GT) - great looking car. Jensen Motors went into receivership soon after production of the GT started. Last time I saw one was the NEC Classic Motor show 2019. Believe around 500 GTs were built.
Over 10,000 Jensen Healey convertibles were made, most exported to US with something like 1500 registered in the UK. I had a Mk2 convertible in the 80's, great car and engine (Lotus 907). Engine was inclined and often the rocker cover would leak a few drops of oil onto the exhaust manifold, causing a little blue smoke to come out the front of the car after a run. I remember my wife being stopped by police for speeding on the M5, police gave us a good telling off saying don't do it again and then looking over at the car smoking said by the looks of it the car wont be able to do it for much longer!

As s3dave says Donlad Healey and his son Geoff had resigned from Jensen by the time the GT went into production and Jensen didn't want to pay him any royalties so the Healey name was dropped. So apart from the engine cam covers there is no mention of the Healey name.Austin Healey club website has these figures, which I found from somewhere when I wrote the page, but I can't remember where I found them!
