Decent A Roads or similar.....?

Howdy friends,

Had the car almost 2 weeks now and have only used 4th gear once or twice (a bit depressing, I know).

Can anyone provide any recommendations for decent A Roads or similar around the SW London area? Need to open her up a bit and blow out some cobwebs. :driving: Within the speedlimit ofcourse occifer :cop: ;)

There's only a couple of good 'A' roads in southwest London: there's the A3 which, of course, leads to the M25 then the M1 then THE NORTH (where we have hills and bends).

And there's the A20 which takes you to the Kent ports and so on to France where there are magnificent 'A' (or 'N') roads. They're no different to the ones near you, it's just that there's no traffic on 'em!

Afraid not fella, Ive lived there for a few years and you need to get out of town. Just hop on the A3 south for a bit.

I'm sure that the route for at least one of the Surrey Runs has been posted. Try a search under events/meetings/travel. The treads are quite long but you can get an idea of the route from the banter, alternatively speak with the route master, jeremyc himself.

From what I remember of the first run, the A24 and upper reaches of the A272 to Petersfield were pretty good. I must dig out Luca's video and relive those days (automotive porn of the highest quality ! www.sleepy-fish.com/video_page.htm
), the sound of the cars going through Petworth was amazing.

Should give you some ideas anyway. As CiderAndy has said some of the best roads are North of London (Roll on BNG)

A272 gets my vote - and the sound of the car bouncing back in Petworth is something that has to be done.

Worth a trip me thinks - stop off at Badgers just south of Petworth on the Chichester road for a top lunch!

This was one of the reasons I moved out of Kingston, fed up with having only the A3 and the A272 to blat down! That and the property prices of course!
