I know there have been a few previous threads on this, but I can't quite seem to find the best approach for my situation.

I have a 2010 DB9 and the analogue clock runs about 5 mins fast - 2010 is important here as it means it's a model that doesn't have the 2 little holes in the dash for manually adjusting the clock - you adjust it by going in to the Menu screen and adjusting "digitally" in there. The clock moves correctly when adjusted - it is just resolutely 5 minutes wrong e.g. if I go in to the menu and change the time to 00:00 the hands spin round to 5 past 12!!

I have head that disconnecting the battery can give it the reset it needs...but I have also heard that disconnecting the battery can stop the folding mirrors working, requiring a visit to a main dealer to reset? Not sure how true this is, but didn't feel like the most risk-free next step.

Is there a fuse that can be pulled to achieve the same? Or any other approach folks can suggest?

Thanks in advance

Just bumping this back on to Page 1 - apologies if that’s frowned upon.

You lot seem to know absolutely everything about these cars so one of you must know how to do this!! smile

Marcus,

Sorry can’t help you. What about setting 5 mins slow digitally to achieve the correct visual time on the analogue clock?

Exactly what I’ve done! Doesn’t quite satisfy my OCD-esque desire to “get it sorted” though!

It's true. There is much of a DB9 I don't know but I know that bit.

God knows what AM were thinking off when they made it a dealer-only change. Money?

I’ve had the same problem several times in my V12V, and it has only been fixed after a visit to the dealer. I’m not sure how they do it, whether there’s a fuse you can pull, a battery disconnect, or possibly some other dark art. As per the manual I have tried to adjust it through the sat nav (Garmin) and it just does not work. There was another thread on here about this a few months ago and someone said it does depend on the sat nav unit fitted. If your car is 2010, I assume you have the older Volvo unit. If so, the suggestion was that it can be adjusted through the car settings menu, rather than using the sat nav itself, but it sounds like you may have already tried that route unsuccessfully. It really is rather frustrating that something that should be so simple is actually rather troublesome. Good luck in finding a solution, and please report back if you get a definitive answer!

Yes, the time is set through the car settings menu, but if I do that to, say, 00:00 then the hands on the analogue clock resolutely swing round to five past twelve…

I shall keep trying to find a fix!

Have you tried setting it to 11.55? If the clock always adds 5 mins it will be correct...

Yes, this is what I do right now but (i) it means the digital time on the sat nav is that incorrect earlier time, albeit I very rarely use the nav as we all know how good it is and (ii) it just bothers me that it isn’t “sorted”!!

This one shouldn’t bother me as much as it does, but there are a few outstanding niggles on the car and I quite enjoy working my way round fixing the ones that I can do myself. This seems to be the only for for which I can’t find instructions on what to do and it feels like it should be well within my wherewithal to sort it myself, hence the annoyance!

My 2011 V8V does the same and I tend to be OCD as well on my cars... but I concluded the only thing I could try is disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes but so far I had not been bothered to do it.

This was what I had been told…but…the whole “folding wing mirrors need a dealer reset if you cut the power’ put me off doing it

This is yet another 'good idea' that solved a problem that didn't exist.

The easiest clock to adjust on my cars is the oldest one, in a Rolls; simply push in the little knob in the centre and turn right or left to adjust forward or back. Easy. Quick. These menus and sub-menus drive me mad sometimes, spending ages reading handbooks or online simply to do something that was second nature previously.

Doesn't help the OP, sorry, but makes me feel better wink

The irony wasn’t lost on me when I put on my 1953 Omega this morning, quickly gave it a wind, pulled out the crown and set the time…if it ain’t broke etc etc

Amazing in this day and age how many clocks are wrong.

I had a cheap video recorder 30 years ago and the clock always told the right time. Got the time through the TV aerial or something.

Also the clock on out mantlepiece always tells the right time as does the clock on my phone and computer.

Just one of those things in life that every reputable company should have just got right twenty years ago.

You’re not the only one! The clock in the original 4.3 Vantage was so much simpler. Insert a pen in to either of the two small recessed buttons and hey presto! And imho it looked better too. Oh well. That’s progress for you I guess.
