A good friend sent this photograph to me. She has driven through this little lane many times and the doors have always been closed; however, the doors of both garages were partly open yesterday.
Knowing my potential interest in things with four wheels, she stopped and took a photo.
There isn't enough of the vehicle in the right hand garage to help with identification but the left hand one gives a good view.
The registration number suggests early 1950s but I have no idea of the make or model.
I would assume that the 1800 diesel badging is not original.
The VRN isn't recognised by DVLA.

I have been to the site today and the doors are closed but I will try to find out who owns the garages and what's inside.

Meanwhile, what does the collective knowledge within PH think please?

A quick google suggests it could be a Sweden registration - https://www.regnr.se/OXX486/

It could just as well be a GB registration.

OX were the registration letters for Birmingham between July 1927 and July 1928. But that car looks newer than that.

I think the Sweden thing is a false meatball - that's on a Nissan Qashqai.

Would OX be suffixed by a digits though - rather than a letter and digits.

There doesn't appear to be an OXX prefix - https://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/ox.h...

This might help - https://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/xx.h...

OXX is MAR 1954 ->

Ooh well done. I was guessing some kind of Humber either 1950 Super Snipe or 1954 Hawk but not quite right. The diamond logo of the Borgward Hansa and the 1800 Diesel lettering is clearly there.

Amazing, would never have got that despite searching. Closest I got was identifying the diamond shape badge you see on Rileys... but it wasn't quite right.

If it were a Swedish car (although it could just as well be a GB registered car), then prior to 1967, Sweden followed ‘Left Hand Rule-of-the-road’, that is they drove on the left side, until 1967; however, oddly enough, they did have a lot of LHD cars on their roads.p it would be interesting to see what side the steering wheel is.

I found this website which puts a value to a 'requiring restoration' example at £1,100. Perfect condition £20,500 https://www.borgward.org.uk/Values.htm

Part of the UK drivers club web-site - https://www.borgward.org.uk

I started with "1800 diesel 1954" and clicked round a few images.
