Intriguing case for sure. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/the_do...
Read a weird suggestion that “Paul” on the envelope could mean “ Pay And U Live “ ?
Unlikely sounding tbh.
Yup, that murder in Nairn has always fascinated me also.
This one is very strange, Peter Bergman.

And as for Larrs, the mind truly boggles..

Northern Ireland as you can imagine has a lot of cold cases and some not related to the Troubles.
I remember this one vividly as I use to do a lot of photography and film work around the docks area from about 2004 until 2006.

It's New Years Day 2006 in Belfast. 21 year old Martin Kelly is out with friends at a bar in the docklands area watching a game of football. Somehow his friends leave the bar without him – perhaps assuming he got into the other of the two taxi’s they were taking. They realized he wasn’t with them when they reached their destination. They called his phone- he answered and said he'd join them after finishing his pint. He never did.
They found nothing despite weeks of searches and still nothing after 16 years.

The police couldn’t interview the foreign labour being used to build a home opposite, of which there was evidence of sexual harassment of the missing woman, because they didn’t have an interpreter. It’s unsolved because lazy coppers….Lots of websites ,YT channels etc on various well know investigations.

I thought the same, how hard can it be to get an interpreter in a murder investigation?Google [bot] said:

If the lead investigator is 'sure' its the boyfriend, then I guess very hard.I suspect a couple of officers were dispatched to the building site, made a half assed attempt at interviewing the foreign builders then wrote up in the report that none of them could speak English. It might be that the majority of the builders were involved in harmless cat calling, but there will be the quiet one at the back, studying her movements. Suspect the woman is buried in the building site somewhere, and the car was moved as a decoy.
I just need to join the police force....
Really interesting some of these, many thanks for the links, I'm off down a rabbit hole for a while...
However, if we apply Occam's razor, most look pretty obvious, if still unsolved...
First girl, clearly murdered and dumped, I know that's not an answer, however not really mysterious.
Lars Mittank looks strange, however was probably adverse reaction to his pills, he'll be in a ditch somewhere.
Peter Bergmann's a good one, thanks!!

There is a multi-part documentary on one of the Sky catch-up channels about this one:

Student crashes her car in rural New Hampshire and disappears in the few minutes between locals phoning the Police and the Police turning up....
