Its awful, brokers hate it and the public that use it don’t understand it.
The public think they are getting an unbiased recommendation for an advisor. But in the background the lead is sent out to a few advisors, first to pay £55 for it gets it. But far too often the cases isn’t viable and no advisor wants to pay £55 to help the customer move forward.
You can see in the negative reviews on trust pilot, people sending requests in 2 or 4 times with no response.
Its very frustrating as you want to help and explain a way forward to people. But the conversion of even viable leads is so low that you cant afford to.
If an advisor does pay for a lead, the customer is then often surprised that the advisor isn’t free apart from initial chat.....or as they have been sold on ‘free’ by unbiased, use the contact like a free advice line.
It a necessary evil for new advisors or large firms who get better rates. If they were more transparent with the public on how it works, the outcomes would be much much better all round.
It was a lot better originally. But I think its was sold and then came desperate attempt to raise revenue.

I tried it over the Christmas holidays and it wasn't a great experience for me. I'd Googled "independent financial advisors in my area" and was directed to the site. I entered some details and a local company got in touch. They guy came out, didn't listen to what I wanted and ended up trying to push products that didn't match my needs. It became apparent that the products were not "independent" and he could only peddle the company's specific products. We parted ways pretty quickly.
