We've got one nearby which looking at the link is one of the 7 to close :-( Been in loads of times and it's pretty good. I suspect they've always struggled though as every week we'd get leaflets through the mail with £5 off a £15 spend, so splitting up the shop meant at least a £10 off £30 if we had separate trolleys lol!

It was a stupid move which was to be the future of tesco, them it was a homage to Jack Cohen then a research exercise on aldi shoppers, now they have finally admitted it was a dumb idea trying to replicate the aldi model on a tiny scale while still have tesco burocracy in how its run.

Not only Jack's but Tesco are supposedly to remove all of their remaining deli, fresh meat and fresh fish staffed counters.

Plus getting rid of the overnight stock replenishment staff.

I know if one goes into our local store anytime getting towards closing, say after 9pm, the aisles are crammed with the spillages ready for the night staff. Presumably there will now be more risk of being flattened by one during the day.

counters have been loss making for years. and counter staff used to be proper butchers and fish mongers years ago which put local actual butchers and fishmongers out of business. then the quality went down kids were hired who dont give a st and the rise of farm shops and fish vans again ironically caused the decline in instore counters.
