Private Plate change and existing Road Tax

Hi All

I'm about to transfer a private plate onto my recently taxed car on its original number plate.
I've read somewhere that the MOT is automatically transferred over as its based on the VIN in the computer system

There seems some confusion as to what I am supposed to do about the road tax though. Some people are suggesting its like a change of keeper and I have to reapply for new tax and a refund

Surely the road tax is automatically transferred over as well as its not a change of keeper.

Can anyone advise
