What do we think of Princess Yachts new X80?
A staggering amount of space for an 80ft boat!

I spend far to much of my time watching this you tubers videos, love seeing in the engine rooms of these boats.
Far nicer than the 1970 30ft margarine tub I own.
I don't think you'd want the running costs of a Princess X80!Far nicer than the 1970 30ft margarine tub I own.
Margarine tubs get you out of the house, onto the water and are affordable

Have you been down towards Cambridge? There's a whole squadron exactly like yours!

This and the X95 do seem particularly marmite. I think they look too high for their length, the X95 looking even more wrong than the X80. I like some of the ideas that have been incorporated, but, and it's a big but, IF I had the money, I would rather go for the Y85.
Must be the X... Looks like in cars it's also the same, XC90, X6... I'm a yottie, so these things don't generally appeal that much. However if I'd won the Euromillions, lost any degree of consideration for the environment, and was only interested in the destination and not the journey, I could have my arm twisted...some big stinkboats do look impressive, appealing, and very comfortable. I had a trip out on some Princess 55 thing a few years ago and quite enjoyed it.
But Jesus, Mary and the Wee Donkey, what the juddering f
k is this thing supposed to look like? It makes that new BMW iX look really nice by comparison. It's just a complete mish-mash of styling...the "reverse" windows are all very "workboat" and would be great on a proper displacement trawler yacht, but on this it looks like someone has just bolted a winch bumper and bull bar onto Taycan. The windows in the hull make it look like it's structurally compromised and is about to snap in two, and as for that roof on the flybridge, because it just tapers down at the back rather than standing up proud, it's as if it's desperately trying to keep it's eyes open, but at any second will give up and the upper windscreen will disappear.
There's a type of railway loco that I think looks permamently depressed, it's as if going from place to place is just too much of an effort, who cares if the glass is half full or half empty as someone is probably going to knock it over anyway.
Congratulations Princess, you've nailed that look.

Agreed, the Y85 is a stunning boat. I think this new X concept is interesting though. If you want maximum accommodation within the length (and many do), it's quite a remarkable achievement.
I heard them referred to as a 'Porsche Cayenne', all the purists hate them, but the people who buy them love them, and they outsell the 911 and the Boxster now. Apparently sales of this and the X95 are strong, so perhaps it's doing the same job.
Interesting to see companies like Prestige are coming up with similar concepts also - https://www.prestige-yachts.com/en-gb/yachts/4-x-l...
