Oooh sounds nasty.....I suggest you turn off the mains water and get yourself to the local DIY store spend about £15 on bits to do job...got to be cheaper!

I could always pop round and do it for you dressed in latex!

Well thats obviously what the guy has done in the first place or it would not be leaking....so your not going to make it any worse!

Have a crack at it...remove bath panel and get in there!

Get some blue tac, fill all around the hole with it, and hold in place with tightly bound insulation tape.....

Worked for me, when I put a hole through some vertical microbore pipe, putting a picture up......

Also, make sure when the job is done you THOUROUGHLY dry out the floorboards with a hair dryer before refitting the bath panel.........

Glad to see you've put aside childish things (like the plumber's phone number) and opted to be a man; taking control, marking out your own destiny, burning down your own house.

Was the joint ever water tight? If it was and has subsequently started to leak, you might want to check that the joint isn't flexing when the bath is filled and emptied.

Just remember to drain the pipe before you try to solder it. Otherwise, you'll never heat the pipe enough for the solder to flow.

You may not need a blowtorch. A compression joint will do the job, and its behind a bath so nobody will see it.

Use a push fitting, very quick and easy.

If you're still alive and your house hasn't burnt down - may I suggest a compression joint instead of solder? All you need is two good spanners to give it a good granch.

Also, push-fit stuff is bloody marvellous, never leaks and is easier than Lego to do.

Glad to see you got a plumber in the end, even better to see one turned up on time lol. When we needed one, (only because the kitchen sink was depositing water in the bathroom...don't ask!)...local plumber duly turns up and for the next three days I'm phoning to see how much and when he's gonna do the job. Fourth day success! Managed to speak to him only to be told...he doesn't want the job.
Just wondering when a would be plumber goes for job interview...the company only employs the candidate that turns up the latest, or if you can get your head round it...the one that doesn't turn up at all.
