I'm sure many of the regulars on here know by now we do Procurement with a speciality in Energy and Comms.

However we now lead on Carbon Footprint assessments and verification plus Carbon Reduction plans afterwards.

So I'm thinking of starting a 100% Green energy brokerage. i.e. We'll get you prices from Green energy providers only and also give each quote our own Green rating from 100% renewable and no greenwashing down to says it's green but all they've done is purchase offset certificates for example.

That works for Electricity, but on Gas it woudl have to be standard quotes, but some suppliers purchase offsets for each contract and again we can give these a Greenwash rating. There are poor offsets and highly crediible offsets available to various Global standards.

So would that be of interest. Service would be free to the user and we'll take commission like 99% of energy brokers do.

The other USP I would like to add in that no brokers do is a fixed and open commission structure e.g. 1p/kWh on ultra low usage meters, 0.5p on low, 0.3p on medium, 0.2p on high and 0.1p on very high for example.

We woudl also provide a quote comparison tool because we lost a quote just 2 weeks ago because even though our quote was cheaper the buyer caculated incorrectly and thought ours was higher.

Does that sound like a brokerage you would at least ask for a quote?

It sounds interesting for those interested in genuinely green energy, but how are you going to cut through the market noise and attract customers vs the existing (heavily marketed) price comparison/switching sites?

Good service, good advice generating referrals.

Another to throw into mix is telling customers how many tonnes of Carbon they saved by using 100% renewable.

With the prices heading the way they are I suspect a lot of business will not be as interested in green so much as saving money until things stabilise. I don’t know how much more “green” costs, but it might no be top of their agenda compared to keeping the lights on.
I certainly give it a try still, Opus have just sent us out renewal frown it’s a shocker !!!

We already do energy brokerage, it's jsut not focussed on Green. Green is no more expensive than Brown now on a broadbrush basis. Just depends on any given day which suppliers have a price book to fill as to which is offering the best price.
