Baume et Mercier - Any good?
Discussion
When I worked in a jewellers back in the day they were an ~Oris level brand who sold to people who wanted something that looked nice but weren't really into watches. They did a lot of quartz from memory and inspired me not a jot.
I've more recently worked on a few and have been pleasantly surprised at the quality. They're still very much of the commercial-movement-in-a-case type, but the movement I saw was a nicely finished 7750 flyback and they now (bizarrely) even have a perpetual calendar!
I don't think I'd ever buy one new as the depreciation must be ungodly, and there are few I could actually see myself wearing, but there are certainly much worse watches out there for the money from bigger brands.
