Should I play The Witcher 3?
Discussion
In the past I've enjoyed playing adventure/quest based games such as Fallout (3, NV, 4) and Red Dead Redemption.
I've really enjoyed The Witcher TV series, and I'm tempted to get the game on the Xbox, but is this something I can pick up and play every now and again, or does it need proper sessions spent on it to get the most of it?
The time I get to spend playing isn't what it used to be, so I want to make sure it's going to be worth buying!

I've really enjoyed the TV series and the books and The Witchers 1 & 2 and to say Witcher 3's storytelling and artistry are on another level is to sell it short.
It initially does take a little getting into but once you've settled on a preferred fighting style I would say you can dip in and out of the side quests quite readily as long as you can recall the way you've played previously.
I'd say winning battles is 50% reactions and 50% knowing the right combination of spells, attacks, techniques to use on a particular monster. All the potions and oils and stuff are only broken out for the big bosses.
But if the main story draws you in an evening can just evaporate. In a good way.

Pretty sure they are remastering it for this Gen if you can wait
Which is why you buy it now on a cheap deal, the upgrade later will be free to owners of the original game. And by the time the remaster comes out the cost of the original game or remaster on it's own will be be more than now.Wayoftheflower said:
I started using it for the damned Jenny in the Woods quest and never looked back.
That b
h was the reason I gave up for about 6 months
So glad I came back and gave the game another go, one of the best games ever.(OP - for context, I think the Jenny quest crops up about 10 hours in, I've spent over 100 hours on the game in total now having completed the main story and most of the side quests. At some point I need to get the expansion packs and give those a go too)

Yeah. You can go a big, slow swing of the sword or you can do an even bigger, slower swing of the sword. Then space is easier to hit than Alt so it's "Big swing, roly-poly". Not the best aspect of the game.I bought it off the back of the recent Netflix series, I realised I had definitely missed the boat on a fantastic game.
Playing on the PC, so running it in 4k, and have applied the HD Texture Pack so it looks bang up to date. (Also threw in a couple to make Geralt look like the chap in the Netflix series)
Apparently there may be a re-release/remastered version for consoles soon. I've done 120 hours so far, still not finished the story, or gone near the DLC yet!

I'll be a slight naysayer here - I couldn't get into it. Got through the first bit but after that the complexity ramps up, and you do need to be on top of the game with all the potions, crafting etc to make the most of it. I can see why people love it, if they have enough time to put into it. As a casual gamer that doesn't have much time to invest in gaming, I prefer pick-up-and-play games like Halo Infinite etc so it wasn't for me.
