Would anyone have a power steering rack for a 1997 Chimaera, doesn’t matter on condition.
I know it’s a long shot …but desperately need one.
Thank you

If you have no joy look up the Suburu steering rack mod. It might be quicker to replace than waiting for a good condition TVR rack which are not that great anyway. I’ve driven a Tvr with Suburu rack. Feels like the same gearing but a bit lighter. Some might say too light but I liked it. Felt more accurate than a Tvr rack but that could just be decent geo on the car I was driving.

Someone who has done this could help with a description of what’s required so others can follow a simple step by step approach to it. Some people have struggled while others seem to breeze through fitting the mod!

Is the PAS rack on the Griffith the same? It may be even more unlikely you'll find a spare one but it would widen possibilities.

Don’t forget that there aren’t any mechanical parts available for the original TVR power steering rack. Seals are available but if there is play due to wear then that can’t be rectified.

I went Scooby which works, is reliable and cheap.

There is a lengthy thread on here about the conversion and to be honest it can be a pita if things dont go right, you also need to have some engineering skill to diy it.

I have got a very early Chimaera/Griff rack surplus to requirements including track rods. It is the original design with the steel tube centre section. It has been refurbed by Kiley Clinton but never subsequently used due to my finding a later aluminium rack for sale.
