P&O Hull Rotterdam Does T6 count as car or van
Discussion
As title
Trying to book a trip
A large 'car' on the P&O site is bigger than my van
Their standard van booking is 7m (ie 2m longer than a T6 swb)
I've raised a query with them but there is a 7 day response - wonder if anyone else has had experience.
Done the North Sea crossing many times for continental trips and much prefer to be sitting with a pint than facing the purgatory of the M1/M25.
The cost of van is double that of a car

I've had a similar issue with my Caddy Maxi Life before. Its a 7 seat car, classed by DVLA as an MPV but purple parking at heathrow classed all caddys and transporters as vans and tried to charge extra as a commercial vehicle despite me pointing out its only like a berlingo multispace.Trying to book a trip

They tried to say its because they are bigger and taller than a car, however the range rover it was next to in the car park was both longer and taller, eventually when i complained of disability discrimination (its a motability vehicle) they eventually backed down but i wont use them again.
Easiest thing is to check your V5, if its down as category M1 dvla class it as a passenger vehicle but itf its N1 then its a commercial.
It’s a ‘van’
If it comes down to length and height, measure it.
Yes it has seats, but so do ducato minibuses and crafter crew cabs…where would you draw the line?
The transporter base is a commercial vehicle. So I’d say on balance it should be declared as a van.
But call them and ask, and provide the measurements.

P and O in Dover and Larne are happy if it has back seats and a window it's a car.
Stenna in Liverpool was grumpy over the same assumption.
Thanks - I'll bear that in mind. Will have one back seat in and has windows. Still haven't had a reply from P&O. The last time I took my car it was a Landcruiser and was a similar footprint to the van.Stenna in Liverpool was grumpy over the same assumption.

Just had word back from P&O - advice is exactly as you say - if its got windows and seats and isn't massive it's treated as a car.Stenna in Liverpool was grumpy over the same assumption.
