Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 sold out

100 cars are planned, and 100 deposits have been received - let production commence!

That there would be excitement around the new Gordon Murray supercar was a given. After all, the T.33 was announced with the two things that had made the T.50 so irresistible - an outrageous Cosworth V12 and a manual gearbox - with the guiding hand of everyone's favourite Gordon. What seemed less assured was the response from potential customers; junior model or otherwise, the T.33 is still a £1.37m car before the vodka and tonic. And surely even multimillionaires don't need both GMA supercars...

We needn't have worried. The entire 100-unit T.33 production run is now officially spoken for, with a deposit paid on every single build slot - which is a rotten bit of luck for those of us set to order after a Euromillions win this evening. But great news for Gordon Murray, of course, vindication of his idea to make more V12 supercars. Who says you can have too much of a good thing?

Murray said of the news: "The entire GMA team is thrilled that all 100 T.33s have found a home so quicky after the global launch, just over a week ago, and we look forward to welcoming new owners to the GMA family... I am extremely proud of our team who have relentlessly applied our core principles to deliver this amazing motor car." With development said to be "well underway", the first of those hundred cars should be built in 2024. By which point we should know what the professor has conjured up next...

With about half the slots having already been reserved by the time of launch, and given it offers many of the core elements of the T.50 which sold out pretty quickly, and in a context where the rich seem to have ever more disposable income and car values are generally rising, I never really thought there was much chance of Gordon having to resort to cheap PCP deals to shift his stock. So no surprise, but glad to know that everything is on track.

I would venture to further predict that the upcoming 100 open-top cars will also sell out.

This car is 'federalised' for use in the US and there are plenty of rich people across the globe beyond a few bankers.

Given how tall Murray is maybe it will be a popular car among big elite sports stars - Mr Bolt, NBA, NFL etc....

Having read some of the incredibly pompous comments on the last T33 thread, it's good to hear that the T33 has sold out so quickly. If i was lucky enough to be a billionaire, i would want an F1 and would have put deposits down on T50 and T33. No hesitation. I totally buy into GM philosophy and am not interested in the majority of modern supercars. Lightweight, compact, clever packaging, luscious V12, no touchscreens, no bling, manual gearbox, clean design with minimal external aerodynamic appendages (even allowing for the T50 fan).

All somewhat academic though as i'm not rich and never will be. I'm happy with my Elise S2 though, which, within my budget, encapsulates many of the principles above.

Couldn’t agree more and it absolutely no surprise they’re sold out, sublime thing. The first comment on the original story: “ More like a 6 figure kit car than a 7 figure supercar.”

Frankly all this Murray ‘Genius’, let’s see how he gets on applying the same philosophy to something just as much fun to drive for circa £25k… Otherwise I’m sure he is a lovely bloke but if he really wants to earn that mantle…

Are you meaning the 2007/2008 financial crisis?

I bet the demographic is quite spread across many professions. The t50 was bought mainly by under 40’s so they would have been very young when the financial crisis hit.

The T.33 has the option of an auto as well.

Last I heard of the 50 orders only 3 had been ordered as an auto! I wonder how many they're up to now?
