Has anyone had any recent experience of getting a discount on a new Panerai at the likes of Goldsmiths etc?

Thanks in advance.

Try watches world, bought my fiancés Pam 1046 which was £4305 secure posted versus £5700 rrp. Not sure if same against all watches.

Just took a bit longer to be delivered but all was fine

You could always take a short trip to Dubai that would be covered by the savings on the watch. Prices were roughly 25-30% cheaper than the UK. But then you could just buy second hand and avoid having to say that you voluntarily took a holiday in Dubai….

I saw a video recently by Paul Thorpe watch dealer on Youtube where he was reporting customs at UK ports are very much clamping down on people coming into the U.K wearing expensive watches, specifically from Dubai and were pulling people and asking them to account for the watches they were wearing on arrival, he was advising people that were travelling out wearing expensive watches to carry proof of purchase or photos of them wearing the watch in the U.K as possible forms of proof the watch has not been just purchased and the wearer is trying to avoid import duty.

Happened to a friend in Heathrow, back from a golf trip...he took a while to "fess up" as they were taking down the serial number to send to rolex....fine, vat and import costs.

Everyone wears casios on our golf trips now...

That's pretty ridiculous if true, should I take pictures of me in the footwear I'm wearing or maybe my underwear needs to be pictured as well silly

Sounds like total bks to me. Unless they cavity searched you on departure, what fecking business is it of theirs what you're wearing on the way back (although you might want to stick the warranty card up your jacksie I suppose)? Could have got it anywhere, anytime, won it in a bet. Prove me wrong.

Although if they were really keen... Serial no.?

Isn't that exactly their business? It is no accident that people have recommended you send the box and papers home separately for ever.

Interesting, and doesn’t surprise me really. I nearly picked up a Speedmaster when I was there; rather than being £7500 in the UK it was £5500. In the end I decided the risk of customs pulling me was too great and I’d rather push for a better discount in the UK.

I always travel with multiple watches but have all the receipts on my phone so don’t think I’d have too much of an issue. That being said, I’ve been in and out of the UK hundreds of times and been pulled twice, so the odds are in your favour of slipping through.

I remember the good old days of grabbing cheap golf clubs from Dubai.

Then they clamped down so you had to take a throw away set with you to show you left with clubs and came back with clubs.

Now looks as though they’ve ruined that!

Panerai store will give you about a 16% discount if you ask nicely.

Why don’t they just go on holiday wearing a Rolex/Other that they purchased in the UK?
