Clutch knackered then?
Discussion
I have checked the hydraulic fluid level and it is at the maximum line (although I have to say what a shite design and whoever thought of putting the reservoir behind the peddles was nothing short of a moron as it is not only nearly impossible to see properly I cant imagine filling it up without making a mess...).
The engagement of gears still does not work - I think the clutch is knackered but are there any other possibles and has anybody else had this problem (seeing as problems with Tuscans are never unique I think that is a rhetorical question).
TIA John

My clutch went with a bang whilst I was driving (literally) but I was forwarned by the fact that over the previous weeks and months it was progressivelt harder to change gear, especially into 1st and reverse.
On mine, the prongs which hold the clutch snapped off one by one so that the clutch was not engaging properly until it could not function at all.
Not sure about the rest of your symptoms so cant say the problem is the same, but mine needed a new clutch fitted at £800...

That sounds about the same as mine, it had got progressively more difficult engage reverse and I was convinced of a juddering when pulling away in first; on friday all of the gear changes seemed to get suddenly difficult and then the next day cant select any gears. What kind of clutch are people putting in as replacements or are they putting their car in the hands of the dealer???
It depends how handy you are at this type of thing, but from memory I believe you need the engine out, so I would have thought a dealer job.
The clutch is from AP Racing and only supply through the dealer. Last year when mine went there was a big backlog as there was some supply breakdown between TVR and AP Racing and there was a few cars at each dealer waiting for clutches. A guy on the cerb forum has been told that there is a similar problem. An indy however may be able to source a clutch from a breakers yard for a bit less, however with clutches only lasting around 20k, it depends how long the wait might be as to whether you would want to go for a used one.
I would check at the local dealers first though. If you have Green Flag coverage they take you to your nearest dealer for free...
As far as I'm aware, from what I was told there is no alternate clutch which can be used. But, if you find out that there is one, and post it here I am sure the information would be very useful, as I found it soul destroying to spend the best part of a grand to repair something with a life before failure of 20,000 miles.

I am looking at sourcing some US based racing clutch as I was thinking about changing the shite transmission that is stuck in there as well, using the same bell housing with a bit of modifying. I am looking at getting this done at the same time rather than paying twice for the labour doing the same steps involved. I have transmission in mind that will take up to 600 lb/ft of torque which will also allow me to do some modifications to the power of the car without the need to worry about the transmission and clutch going down the tubes.
