He’s a PCC, not a police chief. He’s a politician.

John Campion is the Police and Crime Commissioner which is an elected role. Not uniformed.

Pippa Mills is the new CC, regulation hairstyle brushed back and tied into a bun. HTH

I don’t get what the issue is. Someone’s hairstyle doesn’t mean they can’t do the job.

Sometimes I have longer hair, sometimes I shave it. I have a beard that varies in length, sometimes it’s short, sometimes it’s long. I have tattoos on show as well.

I’m good at my job. Whenever I’ve answered a call someone hasn’t said ‘oh no I don’t want you because of your hair style’.

If I ever start a thread about someone else's haircut, please put me to death.
OP, take note.

So, turns out it wasn't a thread about the hair style, it was YOU posting a photo within a thread and making a comment. Per your post below.

Another PH'er said it best in that thread -

Anyone else feel like this thread should be about the dam and not about making disparaging remarks about someones appearance? I get that it's NP&E but it's uncalled for.
To read the article you linked to in your original post on this thread, talking about a rise in homicides - inc parent-on-child homicides being 15% of the recorded total in 2020/21, your takeaway is about the guy's haircut?

WTF is wrong with you?

The fascination with police hairstyles was difficult to understand for someone who came in from a role where the only criterion was whether you could do the job. It could be a hinderence to promotion. It was bewildering. We had an early morning muster/inspection where an inspector, sort of middle management, would check whether or not you hair reached your collar. Eight police officers (those were the days) lined up for 10 minutes in a muster room just standing.

We had one, 'Sparky' who, as soon as he left probation, allowed his hair to grow and he tied it up off the collar. That was not good enough for his inspector and force orders were referred to. Off he went and had his hair permed into tight curls. It was kept off his collar but didn't look too good when he was wearing a helmet. I thought his nickname came because he looked like he'd had an electric shock but it turned out he was a qualified electrician. He was keen, athletic and a grafter, but that, it seems, wasn't good enough. He had to be a clone. All he wanted was not to look like an off-duty copper when off-duty. He did resent being told he should reassure the public by having short hair when the bloke who was telling him this was fat and slovenly. If women could have long hair tied up and still be police officers, why couldn't he was the questiion that was not answered.

Maybe I am due a whoosh parrot but I clicked on the link, looked at his hair, felt confused for second, thought "What's wrong with that?" [ie his hair], and then became confused again trying to understand why his hair is even worthy of comment in the context of his occupation.

I suppose some people still think there must be short back and sides all round. Weird
