Well I've done it - my first Aston Martin

Vibrating with schoolboy excitement and utter dread/guilt in equal measure at the moment 
Picking up my Grey 2006 V8V this week from the dealer. Dream achieved.
2 owner car and sensible(ish) miles at mid 50's. Just had £4k+ spent on new clutch/flywheel/cylinder etc etc. FSH, fresh bridgestones all round, brakes OK, nice clear headlights, looks new inside. Wheels could do with a repaint but that's booked in.
I've really pushed the boat out on it and i'm sure it'll break my heart But I know they're reasonably solid.
Despite all that - cannot believe I've got an Aston!!!!!!!
I'll need the money back in 18 months or so, so I hope it'll be a wonderful and reasonably stress free year or two of motoring, in something I've always wanted... and hopefully won't depreciate too much.

Can't wait for the crack of dawn train down to the south coast Friday, and the hoon back home to London.
Keep telling myself I've done as much due diligence as possible and picked the right one at a half sensible price, backed up with a warranty etc... i'm sure all will be forgotten once I drive off in it!

OEM sadly (I called up the specialist doing the work.) They say it looks like an honest car.
Found today however (doing some extremely in depth digging going back a decade or so!!!!!) that the previous owner is a former Pistonheader who tracked it extensively and often....
Ah well... I suppose Nick Mason's Ferrari 250 GTO gets ragged rather frequently and you wouldn't turn that down....

I'd rather have a car that's been tracked than one that's sat unused in a garage. Weird in this day and age that someone would fit a single-plate clutch when even AML are selling twin-plate options to be fitted by main dealers.OEM sadly (I called up the specialist doing the work.) 3 months into mine. Even though it's had some issues, I still keep turning round to look at it. I like the inside even more than the outside. It's just a lovely place to be (until you set off and the sports suspension shakes your teeth out).And you only have eight cylinders to worry about

Having said this, it makes it even more odd that a standard clutch was fitted when the twin plate is far better in all respects and for very similar money.
Aside from this, it sounds as though you have done your homework (as I tried to) and you've landed yourself a good one.
Just enjoy it now.
Quite an interesting decision to make a discretionary purchase of a special car in this current market given where demand and prices are right now, especially so knowing you'll need the money back in 18 months and taking into account all the short-medium term forecasts for the economy and cost of living.
Although having said that prices for V8V's don't seem to have gone completely mental in these last 2 years of free Rishimoney unlike certain other special cars, so perhaps it's a model that will hopefully continue to hold a stable value or possibly even appreciate.

Warning - You might not want to part with your car in 18 months time. `
Unless the car has suffered on track crash damage, I would not be worried at all.
I can give you an example of how extremely long, a road/track car can last.
A Mini Cooper bought new by the current owner in 1966. Since then, the car has competed in hundreds of hilclimbs, sprints and races, always being driven to and mostly from (a few mechanical failures), all the events. There is yet another programme of events planned this year for the car.

Not had much fun the last few years and kids/different priorities will be on the way soon, so it was one of those now or never, "tick it off" things.
If it's worth nearer 20 in a year or two than 30 as a worst case, that'll be OK. But I think they're holding steady
