Does anyone know the colour of this Cayman

I saw this car a couple, maybe three years ago at a Porsche meet at Chatsworth House. I absolutely love the colour and I said to myself, if I ever get a PTS slot for a car I’d do it this colour.

I wonder if anyone knows the car and as such, it’s colour - I’m guessing it’s Amethyst Metallic but I would love to know for sure - thanks in advance

Could be amethyst, but I don’t think it is.
More likely it’s Viola metallic.

If it’s not Viola, it’s this :

MOT lookup says Purple, so it probably is Amethyst Metallic as that is the stock purple option that was available at the time.

I'm as certain as I can be that its Amethyst. I had a Cayman S of the same colour and vintage (mine was 10/2010).

It's a lovely colour that really pops in the sun. But in the shade it looks like black. I thought the colour would be a bit marmite when I came to sell, but I believe the dealers sold it within 24 hours.

Just had a look at the invoice and the list price of the paint then was £1,561.

Thanks if i had to place a bet it would by Amethyst Metallic - asked OPC to check off the plate and it just says Mauve / Purple - no paint code

well I told you that earlier in the thread with an online MOT lookup. Believe it, it is Amethyst Metallic.

Can’t help on actual colour purple other than to agree they seem to appear very different under different light conditions.
BMW ‘s older colour Techno Violet is also similar as is my new R8 - Exclusive Merlin Purple.

Hi R, having studied your Cayman images on my PC rather than an iPhone, I think it's got too much red in it to be Viola metallic, Porsche Superior Red Metallic (which may just be new name for a modern formulation of Amethyst) looks to be closer :





As an aside, whenever I've seen Amethyst on a 964 RS before now, it appears a pretty dull brown in anything less than Californian sun ...
