There would be an "Except for access" sign below if so.

I live beyond it and I’m trying to work out the rules- as I understand it’s an absolute restriction, but I keep reading that it depends on the actual TRO, which isn’t available online..

They are usually only put in for 2 reasons.

Structural
Environment
If there is no 'except for access' it's usually for the former.

The signing is clear - no goods vehicles over 7.5t MGW.

The TRO would only confirm whether the (lack of supplementary) signing is correct, or whether there are any unusual exemptions (e.g. for a particular business). The latter is pretty rare in my experience.

Very probably, we had a bridge locally fall into the river Teme a few years back ,because a local quarry company thought the signs didn't apply to them.

Is this the case even when the sign doesn't say "except for access" or whatever ?

How are drivers supposed to know the difference between a 7.5T environmental weight limit and a 7.5T bridge weight limit which if exceeded will cause the bridge to collapse?

As you hinted at in your post - if there are exclusions to the restriction, it will say below the sign.

Today we had a delivery of tiles.. except the delivery driver saw the sign and refused to drive through. I had to drive up to his lorry, transfer 250kg of tiles and a pallet into my car then drive home and lift the same 250kg into the house.

Anyone want a pallet?

Isn't there any other route to get to your house? If not that would be somewhat inconvenient.
