mot advisory question

I’m looking at a car with only one weeks mot left.
Here is what is says -and hardly used since last mot

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Front Registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread (0.1 (b))
Rear Registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread (0.1 (b))
Nearside Rear Suspension component mounting repair covered in underseal (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Offside Rear Suspension component mounting repair covered in underseal (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Integral body structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced floor pan generally corroded (6.1.1 (c) (i))

Is sounds like someone has been covering up all sorts of problems with underseal ?

Get seller to mot it before you buy.

Is this something cheap you want to keep running for 6 months, or something expensive you want to run for years?

Wanted a sort of small project but only got limited car skills ,plan would be to buy it and sort the last points on mot and get a new one with no advisory .I’m a bit put off that it could be major rust or hardly anything .not expensive though but wouldn’t be worth spending loads on

As suggested, you could ask to have it MOT'd before buying.

Do you have an opportunity to give ot a look and poke around underneath?

Is it "project" money or priced as a good example?

Bide your time, wait a week and see if they put a new MOT on it?

I can’t really look underneath as i would send a man with loader to collect .The guy seems to think it will mot without any work ! If I offered the full asking price he will mot it .he’s a dealer though so could just be keen to sell

Hmm.

Full asking price subject to your choice of garage MOTing it wouldn't be unreasonable. Paying for an MOT yourself is a cheap way to get at least some reassurance of the state of it.

I wouldn't trust the dealer to MOT it themselves.

Mine was parked outside but I just gave away a car similar to that - looked fine on top, was very rusty underneath. Probably be OK if never used in wet weather but if they get wet they just sit there and don't dry out. Might be worse being garaged than not.

It sounds almost as if the car was parked in a puddle

Perhaps one to avoid - if a tester has put advice on those mountings, they could suspect there's something dodgy going on underneath but obviously can't pull all the underseal off to check.
